"You know you are in a good, authentic place when the food literally transports you to your grandmother's house when you were a child. The black bean soup had this fantastic combination of ingredients that I have not found anywhere but in my grandma's kitchen. That soup, by itself, was worth the trip. The sword fish appetizer was very good and the pisco sour was fantastic (I know, pisco sour is not Mexican, but in any case, it was very refreshing and perfectly mixed). Price wise, well you are in NYC ... 'nough said."

Very nice spot for good Italian basics. I had clam linguine which was delicious, with big, juicy clams. The Bolognese sauce was good, and my husband enjoyed cavatelli with mushrooms and truffle oil. From previous experience, I would stay away from anything too complex or gourmet. But for classic pasta, veal, and chicken dishes, we would certainly return.

After giving us only the options of 7:15 or 7:45, not 7:30 as we wanted. When we arrived for our 7:15 reservation they kept us waiting half an hour. Although they were apologetic, they did not offer us a free after dinner coffee or any other sort of tangible apology. That kind of service does not encourage a return visit. The rest of the service was good, other than the waiter trying to suggest the Dom Perignon Champagne for $350 (he didn't tell us the price).
