"100% our favorite restaurant near Lafayette, Louisiana is the one and only Poor Boy's Riverside Inn in Broussard. We had the pleasure of dining with the owners Richard and Lori Watkins Hurst at their family owned seafood restaurant that was opened 92 years ago. One of the very best meals from start to finish that we have had in a very long time. We started with the Alligator Tidbits Deep fried and grilled and Cajun Crab fingers, both were excellent. Plus a Richard’s Famous Tequila Martini. I got one of the best dishes ever, The Redfish Extravaganza Filet of Redfish (also available with tilapia, flounder or catfish) stuffed with crab meat stuffing then topped with crawfish, more crab meat and mushrooms sauteed in sweet cream butter. My son got the Crawfish Dinner  special sampling of many fine crawfish dishes including: Crawfish salad, crawfish and corn soup, crawfish pie, crawfish etouffee over rice, crawfish boulettes, crawfish au gratin and fried crawfish tails. Sooo...good! special sampling of many fine crawfish dishes including: Crawfish salad, crawfish and corn soup, crawfish pie, crawfish etouffee over rice, crawfish boulettes, crawfish au gratin and fried crawfish tails. Sooo...good! Lori and Richard got the Crab Cake dinner, Crab Imperial, and an order of Lump Crab Meat. Dessert was their award winning Sweet Potato Beignets. You got to try them! 10 out of 10 on the food, cocktails, service and atmosphere."

We think the seafood is consistent and fresh! I grew up going to the original location on Pinhook and still enjoy going there after 60 years! Like to support local businesses!! View menu

One of our favorite restaurants! Love that they haven’t changed much of the atmosphere over the years, it’s beautiful and we have many memories there. Service and food is always amazing!

The worst dining experience ever! The soup came out like warm, the appetizer’s were late, the service was extremely poor. The staff just stood around talking amongst themselves; very lackadaisical. They said they only had one cook for the entire restaurant. But they made sure to charge 20% tip on the bill. Do not go here if you’re looking for good food and service, this definitely isn’t the place. I can’t believe Open Table has them listed. The food doesn’t look like their photos, horrible.

"We've eat there 3 times over the last month, spent over $1,000 feeding my whole work crew there but we will never go back!! The wait staff and food are absolutely amazing but last night one of my guys ordered a sirloin medium well. When it came out he ate 2 small bites and noticed it was extremely undercooked so we told the waitress to take it back and cook it correctly, she brought it back and he cut 2 small pieces off of it and it was still just as raw so he told the waitress he just doesn't want it at all (he has a very weak stomach) and because the rest of us were finished with our meal to just take it off the ticket and he'd grab a burger somewhere else on the way home. She replied that that was the 3rd steak that the cook had messed up that day. So she goes to the back and converses with the manager which tells her that he would pro-rate the cost of the steak. When she told me this I really lost my cool!!! Prorate the steak??? Really??? Are you folks that broke that you have to resort to this? The proper thing to do would've been to comp the meal that he didn't get to eat and they threw in the trash or make the worthless cook that messed it up to start with pay for it. But... I can afford it and I refused to let her pro-rate it because if the manager was sorry enough to say this then I figured he would probably hold the rest out of her check so I demanded to pay the full price, she was a great waitress and did not deserve that. The cowardly manager would not come speak to me. I'll repeat, the food and wait staff is absolutely amazing but because of the managers bad choices we will NEVER be back!!!!!"

"100% our favorite restaurant near Lafayette, Louisiana is the one and only Poor Boy 's Riverside Inn in Broussard. We had the pleasure of dining with the owners Richard and Lori Watkins Hurst at their family owned seafood restaurant that was opened 92 years ago. One of the very best meals from start to finish that we have had in a very long time. We started with the Alligator Tidbits Deep fried or grilled, this bite sized Louisiana gator is easy to tame and tasty to boot. We got them grilled and fried. Some of the best Alligator I have had anywhere. Cajun Crab fingers Crab Fingers marinated in Fr. Coco 's famous dressing, or fried golden brown. Yep, we got them both ways. Zac absolutely loved these. I started with Richard’s Famous Tequila Martini 1800 Tequila, Cointreau and little else — Do you know what rhymes with Friday? Martini! Richard and Lori had the same. What a perfectly balanced and smooth cocktail. I see why it 's named “Richard’s Famous Tequila Martini “. The menu states about their specialty martinis: “Lori’s Glass is Always Half Empty Richard’s Glass is Always Half Full – But We Can Always Refill Yours!” Zac got the award winning Crawfish Dinner A special sampling of many fine crawfish dishes including: Crawfish salad, crawfish and corn soup, crawfish pie, crawfish etouffee over rice, crawfish boulettes, crawfish au gratin and fried crawfish tails. Sooo...good! My dinner was amazing! Seriously, one of my now all time favorite seafood dishes of all time. The Redfish Extravaganza Filet of Redfish (also available with tilapia, flounder or catfish) stuffed with crab meat stuffing then topped with crawfish, more crab meat and mushrooms sauteed in sweet cream butter. A favorite meant to impress! Y’all this was a dish that makes you smile with every bite, and had no business being so dang good. My second cocktail was the Kim’s Margarita Jose Cuervo Silver Tequila, Cointreau, lemon lime Richard had the Crab Cake dinner One large crab cake stuffed with jumbo lump crab meat in a creamy cheese filling, fried or broiled, and served with a Creole honey mustard glaze and a taster of friend crab fingers. He chose the stuffed potato for his side. Lori had the Crab Cake Imperial Originated by Mrs. Poor Boy Landry. Jumbo lump crab meat, mushrooms and pimientos, gently cooked in a rich cream sauce and baked to a golden brown. She choose grilled veggies as her side. We all split a dish of Lump Crab Meat Our simplest dish and a favorite with our guests. It 's what puts us on the Acadiana Dining Map! Dessert was so special was their famous Sweet Potato Beignets Chef Cleve 's cinnamon spiced sweet potato beignets with an orange hazelnut sauce. Sounds weird right? OMG! These were freaking excellent! Do not skip this if you ever go to Poorboys Riverside Inn. To pair with our dessert, we had Riverside’s Traditional Old Fashioned (Smoked with Pecan wood) Woodford Reserve, simple syrup, muddled cherry and orange, bitters — I like water, specially when it’s frozen into cubes and surrounded by whiskey!"
