"I took my time enjoying a homemade root beer float before ordering an original classic: the Cheeseburger Bernice. It was absolutely delicious, featuring perfectly fried cheese and well-cooked french fries. But I wasn't done yet. I got another root beer float and a serving of that incredible handmade ice cream, choosing maple walnut. It was creamy and smooth, with walnut halves and a hint of maple syrup—simply dynamite! I must also praise the staff. The waitstaff, cooks, and bussers are all incredibly busy and efficient, without unnecessary chatter, showcasing true professionalism. They wear uniforms that reflect a nostalgic era—waitresses in pressed dresses and cooks in button-down shirts, bow ties, and paper hats! Shady Glen is a must-visit when you're in Connecticut. Everything was so delicious that I'm still thinking about that meal, and it hasn't even been a month since my visit! The handmade ice cream is truly the best. My 90-year-old aunt, who has been a longtime patron, insists that the ice cream is unbeatable, and I wholeheartedly agree. Just a heads up: Shady Glen only accepts cash, as it has since it opened in 1948. There is an ATM inside for those needing to withdraw cash from debit cards. Please make sure to check out Shady Glen in Manchester, CT. They won second place in the 2024 WFSB Best Hamburger in Connecticut. Keep up the fantastic work, everyone! On my next trip to Bradley International Airport, I plan to head straight over for that famous Cheeseburger Bernice and two scoops of ice cream. Thank you for your hospitality, delicious food, and welcoming atmosphere. And just to be clear, I received no compensation or perks for writing this sincere review. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!"

Great old school diner. Worth the short detour when driving up to Boston.

What more can I add that hasn't already been said? The cheeseburger was truly outstanding, and the service was top-notch! The coffee and ice cream were amazing too. I can't wait to return!

This restaurant only accepts cash, but the food is quite good. The pickles are absolutely amazing—definitely ask for extra on the side! You might have to wait a little, but the experience is worth it. View menu

Ahhh the cheese skirt. When I drove across the country on what I called the burger tour I knew I had to stop at Shady Glen. I 'm from California and we do our burgers a certain way but when George Motz featured this place in his book I knew I had to try this unique New England icon. It did not disappoint. I 'm sure all the locals know and love this joint but if any out of towners who love burgers are reading this, please make an effort to stop by. The atmosphere alone is worth a visit. I hope this place is open for a hundred years.

I originally come from Manchester but now live 2000 miles away. However, whenever I return home, I always make it a point to visit Shady Glen. Shady Glen is famous for its tasty cheeseburgers and ice cream, both of which are excellent options. Nevertheless, I enjoy trying something different from their menu, like the scallop platter or whole belly clams. I always make sure to pair it with their fries and coleslaw. During my most recent visit, my mom joined me and chose French fries, coleslaw, and a half-gallon of chocolate chip ice cream, all of which were great picks. For myself, I treated myself to a hot fudge sundae with mint chocolate chip ice cream, satisfying a childhood craving. I abs...

"Another excellent meal at Cotton. We've been times now and they've all been noteworthy experiences. We were seated immediately, there was a bit of a delay before Summer, our server, arrived but not long. She was very attentive and knowledgeable, excellent service throughout. We started with drinks, a local beer from Abel Ebenezer and a peach and orange blossom Cosmo, which arrived in a timely manner. For an appetizer we had the Tuna Tataki which was superb. A perfect, light, blend of savory, sweet, and spicy with succulent tender seared tuna. For an entree I had the Delmonico steak, cooked medium rare at the chefs recommendation and my wife had the Atlantic Salmon. My steak was the first expensive steak I've had in years that measured up. The mushroom red wine sauce was a perfect pairing and only enhanced the flavor of the meat. It was cooked perfectly and the carrots and mashed potatoes were a tasty surprise of bright flavors. My wife's salmon was cooked perfectly as well. Flaky and moist. It's served with sweet corn and potato gnocchi and baby tomatoes. A delicious sweet compliment to the creamy herb butter on the fish. For dessert we enjoyed a rich dark chocolate torte (flour less but apparently not gluten free and the dolce freddo, a pistachio gelato with raspberry remoulade and pistachios on top. The torte was decadent and too rich to finish after such a great meal so we brought half home. I was staggered at the amount of gelato and didn't finish mine either, though it unfortunately wouldn't survive the ride home. Overall, the meal was fantastic and I would do it exactly the same all over again. It's worth noting that this was a very expensive meal. Including another beer we just barely missed by mere cents before tip. Worth every penny in my opinion"
