"I recently moved to Bainbridge Island from San Francisco and decided to try out the Japanese restaurant that has been touted as the best in the area. However, I was disappointed to find out that it is actually the only Japanese restaurant on the island. The sashimi was served warm, which was unappetizing, and the O Toro, which was priced at $24 for two pieces, was not enjoyable due to the presence of tough, inedible membranes throughout. The spicy tuna in the spicy tuna roll was over-mashed, resulting in a paste-like texture. Coming from San Francisco, where there are numerous outstanding Japanese restaurants to choose from, I was surprised by the lackluster quality of the sushi at this establishment. The five star reviews must have been from people who are not familiar with good sushi or did not order sushi at all. Adding to my disappointment, the woman working at the sushi bar was rude and disrespectful. I also want to clarify that the "fresh" salmon mentioned in another review was actually previously frozen, as this is necessary to eliminate any parasites. Despite my negative experience with the sushi, I would recommend trying the house saki."

The udon and ramen noodle dishes were disappointing and lacked flavor. My husband ordered the sushi platter and found it to be average. The restaurant offers complimentary edamame for all guests to enjoy. Our waitress provided excellent service. The dining area was uncomfortably warm, even though it was hot outside too. It would be nice if they adjusted the air conditioning. Overall, the food was mediocre.

We walked in here on a Thursday evening and despite being a full house, we got seated right away. My bf ordered some galbi and they were kind of tough, but the sushi is all that matters to me at Japanese restaurant. They have a wide selection for specialty rolls and it was hard not to order everything on the menu. The two rolls that I did order were so fresh and tasty. The ramen was tasteless and unsatisfactory, prompting me to send it back and upsetting the owner. Despite this, I was charged for the dish. However, the tempura was enjoyable and I happily paid for that. I left a two-star review instead of a one-star review, as the tempura was good and I didn't want to negatively impact the restaurant's overall rating. I suggest the owners improve their ramen dish, as consistent poor reviews indicate a problem. Overall, I wish the business success.
