"If you want counter service with an attitude, this is your place.Met a family of 6 (8 of us total) including 2 children for breakfast. We walked out because the only service was counter service with no consideration for a large group with children. The response from staff was rude.I’m sure owners or managers will respond with a sob story about the inability to hire help not my problem. You’re running a sit down restaurant catered to families with extensive indoor and outdoor seating, you need to provide the appropriate level of service. And, if I have to place my order at the counter, get my own cutlery, and fill my own beverage, my tip is cut in half 10% at best."

I took my family down to San Diego for a few days, and we had a fantastic breakfast at Swami's Cafe today! The staff was amazing, and the food was delicious! Food rating: 5/5.

Highly recommend their Swami’s Club, Ricotta Pancakes, Healthy Breakfast Burrito, and Yam Fries! The side salad was also super fresh and came with a delicious dressing. Waited about 25 minutes for the foodFood: 5/5

Had a bad experience here unfortunately. I ordered a medium rare burger. Waited over thirty minutes for the food to come while people who ordered well after me got their food. Then when it came it was well done. In the grand scheme of things none of this is a big deal and I know the staff are doing the best they can but a real big bummer nonetheless : View menu

We couldn’t find a place to take a party of 10 on short notice Labor Day until I called Swami’s and they said come on down we were able to move some tables and we had a great breakfast celebrating our parents 69th anniversary. The food was great the atmosphere was fun and the service was on point. Thanks Swami’s for making room for us I am very grateful.

We had the best meal in San Diego! The Salmon Caesar Salad was fantastic (it comes with garlic bread) and the ABC burger, which can be served with a salad, was also incredibly tasty. The portions were generous, and the atmosphere was clean and relaxing, complemented by friendly service. Plus, Verbatim Bookstore is conveniently located right across the street! Food: 5/5

We love this place. We come here for coffee, for lunch, and sometimes for breakfast. The place is family owned and it’s got a very nice vibe to it. The staff is super nice and the food is delicious. Our lunch fave is the California delight sandwich. For breakfast, I recommend the açaí bowl, it’s fantastic! As for coffee, they have 10+ flavors of freshly brewed coffee, plus specialty coffee, and a bar. View menu

The staff at this restaurant were incredibly friendly, and the food was absolutely fantastic! We often walk by on our way to the vintage market, so we finally decided to stop in for brunch, and it turned out to be the best decision we could have made! My favorite dish is the Caesar wrap, especially paired with their fries. We also tried the Greek omelette, which was delicious—the fruit was fresh, and the bread was perfectly toasted. The portion sizes are generous, which may explain why the place is always so busy! They also have a sports bar and outdoor seating available.

I was happily surprised of how good the food was. The man who took our order when you first walk in seemed like he was annoyed by our naivety as we've never been there before. I did not know you had to order first before sitting down. The food was really good, this place is vegetarian/vegan friendly. The club sandwich had mock turkey and bacon, which could have been cooked a lot more but I'd order it again and ask next time. It's an open air restaurant so there were flies and the music was good just too loud. If the man who took our orders was friendly and the music was not so loud I'd give 5 stars.

"I adore this restaurant. Golden Hill is filled with many many quality eateries, and Counterpoint anchors the neighborhood with it's fun atmosphere and dedication to quality. They recently renovated and the new space is open, airy and provides a variety of seating options: bar seating, restaurant seating, and upper balcony (I use this as a quiet place to WFH during the week), and an outdoor patio. I'm partial to the biscuit and gravy for breakfast, but the brined chicken and waffles or breakfast hash always makes me smile and sends me unto the world with a better outlook on life and a doggie bag. When it's hot, delicious crunchy salads are on the lunch menu and the craft beers and unique slushy flavors change. Counterpoint takes the quality of food and libations seriously. The craft cocktails rotate as the bartenders are encouraged to explore and grow. The owner and team are always warm, welcoming and make sure you have a good experience. Did I mention they are DOG friendly? Definitely worth the trip up the hill from downtown if you're looking to wind down after an event or precharge and eat before a baseball game. I love to bring my friends for a snack (try the olive selection) and chat on a twilight night. Space heaters outside if you get cold. Fans inside if you get warm. Honestly if you live in or are visiting the 92102 area code you should go to Counterpoint: good food, really good cocktails, and great company. It is clear that this establishment cares about quality, cares about your comfort and loves if you have a good time."
