"Found the yam looking for a place to eat after taking my mom to the eye doctor and what a pleasant surprise! Great food at decent prices the best I’ve had since living in the DM(V) with the customer service to match! Between the four of us and the kids, we tried: Fried pork chops with Mac and cheese and yams (perfect) Fried chicken with fries and greens (great) Chicken wings and fries (really good, but wings weren’t fried) Flounder sandwich and fries (perfect) Kids’ chicken nuggets and fries (great) Overall, I’d highly recommend The Candied Yam to anyone in the area looking for AMAZING, TRUE SOUL FOOD!!!"

Listen I woke up craving some good comfort food... They didn't disappoint at all!!! The service was great the food was absolutely delicious I got the seafood platter with cabbage and mashed potatoes and gravy and I was so happy that for once someone is close to me that actually can cook some good comfort foods. Overall, I enjoyed my experience here! The food was tasty and had great flavor. We started with the Old Bay wings, which were well seasoned and tasted great! Our entree's included the smothered pork chops and full rack of ribs. The mains were both amazing! The candied yams were just to die for! It's no wonder why they named the restaurant the way they did! My only slight negative is the Mac and Cheese. The pasta was overcooked, and it turned the dish to mush. I will definitely be back, and I recommend it for everyone looking for good soul food!
