"The dining experience felt quite impersonal. We were seated at our table and only provided with two menus for our group of six. If we wanted drinks, we had to go to the bar to order them ourselves, and the same went for our food orders. We were also expected to serve ourselves water. Basic items such as utensils, salt, pepper, napkins, and other essentials were entirely our responsibility to gather. Everything—cutlery, cups, condiments, and bowls—was disposable and made of plastic or paper, which not only increases costs but also harms the environment. Unfortunately, the food and drinks were disappointing; the portions were small, dry, and lacking in flavor. There was no follow-up from the staff regarding the quality of the food or if we needed anything, leading to a complete lack of service (and no tip!). The only highlight of the experience was the view."

At 5:45 PM on a calm Monday evening, our group of six decided to change our dinner plans and head to The National. We've always loved dining at The Surf and looked forward to it every summer, but we've officially made The National our new favorite restaurant.

I had one of the best smoked brisket sandwiches I've ever tasted here, and many other dishes on the menu looked just as enticing. They also accommodate gluten-free diners very well, providing a delicious gluten-free roll for sandwiches. Regarding dietary restrictions, their treatment of gluten-free options is impressive.

I truly appreciate the option to sit at a table and order from the bar, with the food being brought directly to you. The views are fantastic, the service is top-notch, and the food is exceptional. The tuna ceviche was perfect, and the mahi tacos were absolutely delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant for a relaxing afternoon snack or an early dinner.

The view here is breathtaking, and even though you have to place your order at the bar, it’s well worth it. The drinks are delicious, especially the rum punch and the strawberry basil lemonade (which contains vodka). The food is exceptional; the pulled pork and pulled chicken thigh sandwiches, along with the summer panzanella salad, are incredibly fresh and packed with flavor. I highly recommend this restaurant! In terms of drinks, you need to go to the bar and serve yourself, and if you want water for the table, you'll have to go to the front for the water dispenser. We then waited an additional 20 to 30 minutes for our food. Everything was served on paper plates with disposable cutlery—good luck trying to cut a steak with that! The portion sizes were small, and the food was lacking in flavor. I only gave this place 2 stars because of the view. I definitely do not recommend it.

We had a fantastic experience at this restaurant. The corn black bean salsa was pleasantly refreshing, and both the poke bowls and fish tacos were absolutely delicious! My husband loved his drinks, and we both enjoyed the atmosphere. The decor and overall vibe were wonderful. If you're willing to order food and drinks at the bar, you'll have a great time here. Just remember that staffing shortages are common these days, so let's be understanding; the service was excellent!

This restaurant was amazing! The appetizers and main courses were top-notch. The lobster roll was exceptional, and the BBQ chicken thigh sandwich with potato salad was fantastic as well. The ambiance is ideal for couples; I visited with my fiancée, and she loved it. We also took advantage of a two-hour moped rental and spent at least 45 minutes savoring our time there. The service was prompt, and the food was delightful—our drinks arrived in no time, quickly followed by our meals! View menu

The restaurant boasts breathtaking views, which is certainly a highlight. However, the service leaves much to be desired; the staff merely drops off the food and doesn't check in afterward. If you need anything, you'll have to ask for it yourself. The Beach Dog was once the premier dining destination on the island, but it seems they've substituted their standout dish for a few lackluster alternatives, which is disappointing. Nevertheless, the views remain spectacular. I’m uncertain if I will return. Enjoy your visit!

We visited this restaurant with a group of 15 and were seated in a delightful surf shack with a lovely view of the beach. Sadly, after waiting for over an hour, we discovered that there were no waiters available and that large parties would only receive bar service. This place used to be excellent, but since the management change, the service has dropped significantly, and the menu options have been noticeably limited. As a result, we decided to call The National across the street, and they kindly accommodated our large group right away. The service there was exceptional, and the food was delicious. Unfortunately, we can no longer recommend this restaurant for anything more than drinks at th...

"One of my favorite eating experiences on the island and otherwise! We were so happy with our meal that we bought the cook a drink. She should be celebrated!!! In the context of the island I didn't know how much the other places we died were short. Eli's staff treated us like old friends; no single smile felt compelled. They take care of the little things: The bathroom feels like entering a massage salon for dogs (everybody who has been there understands why), the sound-absorbing boards on the ceiling, even the hosts give potential guests very true answers to waiting times and suggestions, where they are taking a drink nearby in the meantime. All this the parsley on the right plate: the menu! This cook knows what she's doing. My partner is a cook, and here is what she had to say about it: she definitely studied somewhere, how the flavors mean that she really cares about the experience and KNOWS what she does! You have carefully the menu around ingredients that are seasonal and can be used in a variety of ways. I would be about 20 or less items over the entire menu, everyone prepared to the theme of the dish whether it is animal protein or cauliflower. I am vegetarian and I decided to dinate here because the separate Veg menu was actually interesting! Not only one beyond burger or salad; who designed this menu may eat vegetables! I ordered the Roasted Cauliflower and couldn't believe what I tasted. The dish was all kinds of vegetables on a bed of rice Fuccine, sitting in a sauce that I think is based on garlic, but not in an overwhelming way. My partner commented “that’s the best I have seen you eat this whole trip” that I answered “I don’t want to stop eating this!” I have never been in a restaurant that has been targeted for meat eaters and thought that a vegetarian dish was on the same level as the “Entrees” section of a menu. My partner ordered Steak and we both had the same experience – what a fairy! I think everyone should dinate here, but I push the groups that are a mixed bag of Veg, gluten-free, and carnivores to try Eli’s because they have delicious accommodation for everyone!"
