"This Italian restaurant is my favorite, and I can't get enough of it. It's rare for a restaurant in NYC to last for ten years, let alone twenty-six, and one taste will show you why. To be clear, if you're searching for authentic old-country recipes that mimic your Italian grandmother's cooking, or a trendy, upscale place aiming for a Michelin star, you should look elsewhere—there are many Italian restaurants around that satisfy that demand better. However, if you crave Italian-American comfort food reminiscent of what NYC families have been making at home for over a century, the kind that makes your local pizzeria’s non-pizza offerings seem lackluster, then this place is unbeatable. They serve the best chicken parmesan in the city—crispy and generously topped with rich, tangy marinara—as well as the finest spaghetti bolognese, infused with Italian spices, warm and crumbly, and perfectly balanced to fill you up. If you want to experience what a true $20 Italian-American meal of meat, pasta, and red sauce should taste like—unlike the mediocre fare at places like Olive Garden—this is the spot for you. Bring your friends from the Midwest who grew up enjoying pasta at family restaurants and truly impress them. It may not be trendy or Instagram-worthy, but it represents the best version of the Italian food most Americans cherish, ignoring any big-city pretensions. Plus, the atmosphere is cozy, and the staff are incredibly kind. I highly recommend it!"

The food was not truly authentic Italian; it felt more like "American-Italian" cuisine. The service was average— I was the only person in the restaurant who didn't receive bread and was not checked on to see if everything was alright. I have a suspicion as to why I was treated differently, but I would prefer not to make any claims that could harm the restaurant's reputation. I would encourage the waitress to be more genuine and less passive-aggressive. I sincerely hope that my experience wasn't affected by my race.

"When we called to reserve a table, no one informed us that there was a dining time limit of 1.5 hours. My friend wanted to invite more people to join us for dinner, but I was unsure if everyone would agree to the minimum charge of $60, including taxes and tips. I confirmed a reservation for 7 people during my second call, but ultimately, only 6 of us showed up. The table we were given was quite small, making it uncomfortable for six people, especially with the mandatory minimum spending of $60, as well as a 20% tip. For just two people, the minimum tip is 18%. I was confused about the dining time limit—was it two hours or 1.5? The party area was limited to just the backyard for additional seating. I was with friends who didn’t know the group well, and we arrived early at 3 PM, but we couldn’t wait until 6:30 PM. That’s why we ended up sitting at a separate table for two. Unfortunately, the restaurant didn’t seem to care and couldn’t arrange for us to be seated closer together. We had no choice in the matter. To make matters worse, the female waiter had a poor attitude. It felt like we were dining in a sidewalk market. She questioned another girl who served me ponzu sauce, apparently because I looked impatient when I saw her face. Her attitude only worsened after that. It seems like they need to train their employees better, as they seem unaware of how to provide good service. As for the food, it was just okay, typical of basic Japanese cuisine. There were too many restrictions! Customers are forced to adhere to the restaurant’s rules and limitations. I cannot recommend this place unless someone is specifically looking for a fast-food experience. In short, I don’t think I’ll be returning next time."
