"I can't see how anyone could give this restaurant less than a 5-star rating. My husband and I have been there several times, and each visit has been better than the last. I highly recommend making a reservation since it's a smaller Japanese-style restaurant. The chef has an incredible palate and only uses the finest ingredients. If you're a fan of sushi, this is the place to go! It's not your typical cheap sushi spot, and the prices absolutely reflect the quality of food you receive. Every bite left us wanting more, and our server was very knowledgeable about the different dishes. We absolutely love Yasu!"

Love this place so hidden in a stripe shopping center, but literally best sushi we've ever eaten... phx Las Vegas California. Beautiful local experience and fish

Wow, the price is not cheap, i have to tell you. But the price is right, absolutely delicious, it is totally worth it. Japanese chief cooks with fresh fish and ingredients, awesome, even their ginger slices is good quality. My husband keeps saying “This is the best sushi/sashimi i ever had”

I lived in this neighborhood for 4 years before I found this cute sushi spot. I went for a solo dinner and was pleasantly surprised. There was nobody else in the building which never makes you feel great BUT I am glad I stayed. I ordered a few different rolls and nigiri and it was all super yummy. View menu

Very first time here. Thank you AZ Times Union for saying this was one of the all time sushi places to go. I couldn't agree more. Our waiter was extremely helpful and explained the menu. He gave us his recommendations which we ended up getting. The scallops tasted amazing and so was our salmon roll. I'm looking forward to going back and trying all of his creations.

This restaurant is surprisingly affordable, offering a wide variety of selections and flavors. It's no wonder they have a 5-star Zagat rating. Our dinner was impeccable, featuring excellent sushi cuts. The bacon-wrapped dates were cooked to perfection, just like the pigs. The sushi chef was very friendly and interacted with patrons at the bar regularly. The atmosphere was warm and relaxing, making the location an unexpected delight.

Absolutely phenomenal. I knew it was going to be good as soon as I smelled the charcoal grill when I walked in, and I wasn't disappointed. This is the best and most authentic sushi and Japanese food that I've found on the west coast, and I can't wait to go back. Come with an open mind and don't expect to order California rolls. Yasu has put together a fantastically creative menu filled with great takes on traditional and modern Japanese cuisine. View menu

"i’ve been coming to lacuna for over two years now and this little gem is definitely one of my favorite places to be. i’m not much of a review-writer, but when i feel passionately about places (good or bad , i get inspired.as someone who leads an alcohol-free lifestyle, it is SO nice having this option to unwind and create some art, relax, or hang out with friends. i’ve truly made so many wonderful connections through lacuna that i will cherish for a lifetime!it’s also a great place to get work done. i work remote, so i spend a good majority of my week here at my second office ; the BOGO happy hour deal comes in clutch.i think it’s really great that there is a mix of events now too, not just strictly DJ’s performing 6-7 nights a week. (although i do absolutely love the nights when there’s a DJ as well ! the variety of events is great; chess tournaments, community coloring, workshops, recovery groups, massages, yoga etc. there’s been a lot of engaging activities that i enjoy attending or participating in.i feel like lacuna has become a lot stronger in both the workspace and community-front in the last year or so too. the kavatenders all have such a warm and positive energy and always make me feel special when i come in. it’s nice seeing management interacting with customers and staff more too. it’s nice overhearing the positive feedback from management to staff (or staff to staff , and hearing the conversations that the staff members have with guests. there just seems to be a lot more connection overall. lacuna is growing and glowing for sure. <3the price increase is a bit of a bummer, but in a time with inflation… what can you really do? i personally TRUST lacuna with their product and that’s what keeps me coming back. i know they put both quality and care into their products and it really reflects. it can be a pretty penny if you’re getting multiple drinks, but fancy craft cocktails at a regular bar can be the same way. plus, my points add up so quickly i get pretty frequent discounts with their reward system. it’s not the end of the world!i appreciate the subtle changes in the bar layout and decor too. even the little things keep it feeling fresh and a little new each time you come in.the *only* “negative” thing i have to say about the space is that it can be difficult to order a drink or close out a tab sometimes. there’s rushes and it gets busy, but sometimes it feels as if one staff member just isn’t enough during these times. sometimes there’s not a lot of communication about this either between staff and people trying to close out, but i’ve been coming here for awhile now so i know what to expect. if you’re in a time crunch, just give yourself a little buffer or cushion of time to get closed out (or order to go right off the bat and close out immediately .all things considered, though, 5 stars all the way around! lacuna is an ever-evolving, ever-growing spot and i’m excited to see what the future looks like for you guys! : bulaaaa!!!!"
