"I have a deep appreciation for eclectic cuisine and the adventurous spirit it embodies. I also celebrate the improvisational essence found in the diverse cultural roots of jazz music. When you combine these elements, I become a very happy diner. Baribar Bistro offers something close to a cult dining experience in downtown Los Altos. Unlike restaurants that perpetuate the stereotypes of Italian, French, Chinese, or Indian cuisines, this place understands that genuine culinary traditions span beyond borders. It showcases regional styles and fusion dishes that emerge from hybrid identities—like a Serbian parent marrying a Northern Italian spouse, whose children then fall in love with someone from South America. That's what draws me out of my home to explore new flavors. Dining doesn't have to be Instagram-worthy to be delicious. Serbian food is incredible, but if you share my passion for good wine and cool jazz, you should definitely give this place a try—before it’s too late!"

Amazing food, fun atmosphere and great drinks. the owner was so nice and attentive. We had a phenomenal time. I loved the bourbon drinks and we had the carbonara as well as beet salad and burrara app. So good. Don’t miss out on a phenomenal spot and great people

The food is quite good for a reasonable price. I ordered the lamb chop, which was $25—cheaper than at most places. I just wish the sauce had been served on the side, as it would have made it easier to dip the meat in; the sauce is amazing! The salmon was also very tender.

The food was creative and delicious, the service was exceptional, and the atmosphere was delightful—all at a reasonable price! We were quite impressed by this new restaurant in downtown Los Altos. The art inside was stunning, and the outdoor terrace really gave us a European vibe. We had a prosciutto and pear Gorgonzola appetizer, homemade tortelli, and finished with a peach sorbet for dessert. Highly recommended! View menu

Great cuisine and good service with reasonably priced wines, and drinks. The hidden jewel here is the live music venue that IMHO is as good as a trip to Oakland or San Francisco right in downtown sleepy town Los Altos. I’ve been in this area for many many years and the quality of live music on Thursday, Friday and Saturday is one of the best hidden jewels anywhere on the peninsula. Make a plan to visit and get ready to be blown away.

"Date Night ASA Restaurant has two locations in the Bay Area and their Los Gatos location earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand recognition This was my first dining experience at their more north location in downtown Los Altos With high ceilings and heart themed adorned menus, this was a perfect spot for a Valentine’s week dining experience The menu here is slightly different from the Los Gatos location and I’ve heard that the two locations may not be as closely affiliated when they first opened I loved the appetizers and particular loved the anchovy bread with two different anchovy types topped on crisp, warm bread. The Dungeness crab appetizer was also excellent For entrees, I opted for ASA’s signature exotic mushroom pasta that is on both the Los Gatos and Los Altos menu As a fungi fan, I absolutely love this dish and it’s one of the best pasta dishes in the South Bay and Peninsula The only miss was their special of the day of striped bass over risotto. The purple yam purée was sour and the risotto dry with zero moisture or liquid and more like a cooked rice dish than a risotto ASA is a fantastic destination for the Bay Area and while the prices are elevated, they reflect elevated cuisine (and high ceilings) Smoked and Stoned $16 Anchovy Bread $16 Dungeness Crab Toast $36 Special Striped Bass over Risotto ASA’s Exotic Mushroom Pasta $34 ASA Restaurant (Los Altos, CA) Reservations are recommended on Opentable and dining is indoor only. Credit cards including AmEx are accepted."

"The experience here from start to finish was pretty odd, and the service was bad. Menus weren't brought to us for a long time, they apologized when they eventually gave the menus to us. The restaurant was nearly empty aside from one other table, but everything was slow. We weren't checked in on at all during the meal. When we ordered, the waitress was very confused and unfamiliar with the menu. I assumed she was new, but then we received the same confusing service from all staff. We were randomly brought French fries that we didn't order, and then that kept happening with various other menu items The veggies in all the dishes were cold and tasted watery, unseasoned, and like they had been frozen. Scallion pancakes had no scallions in them at all. Basil eggplant dish had no basil at all. Smoothie wasn't blended properly: all ice at the bottom, and only a super sweet watery liquid would come through the straw. It tasted like the same overly-processed sauce was on every dish, nothing felt fresh. The kimchi rice was a good menu item, but it didn't really taste like kimchi. Just seasoned rice. Appetizer and drinks were brought out after we finished everything. A staff member tried to argue with us when we wanted to send something back. When we paid and thanked them, they didn't say a word to us or even look in our direction, and didn't give us a customer copy of the receipt."
