We had the sea scallops and the wagyu flank steak (daily special . Both were cooked perfectly and expertly presented. Generally speaking, we are not dessert people, but we could not pass up the candied pretzel spiced apple pumpkin cheesecake. Yes…that’s right…all in one serving. Amazing. This is not the cheapest place around Lake Lure…but I can assure you, we’ve eaten at the lower price point places and there is a distinct, positive difference at Appalachia that makes it worth the extra . Between the people, ambiance and the food…Appalachia ranks as high as it gets in western NC (yes, including Asheville! ."

Great food. Great waitress. Very attentive. Noise level was a bit high, but hard to control at this place. Requested a window table overlooking the lake. Did not get one, no mention of our request when seated. Would have been nice for the fireplace to be in use. It was a cold night in the 30s.

Food and service best I’ve had in Rutherford County. Very pleased. Staff professional and efficient with just the 2 working. Fires going making it cozy and comfortable. Got there early to see the view and enjoy the bar. Imaginative cocktails and one of the finest Bordeaux I’ve had in a while with dinner. Surf and turf was the favorite. Perfect filet and yummy crab cake. Will go again.
