"This was an unexpectedly delightful find! The food was exceptional, varying with each order. The veggie combo I chose was fantastic—I could really appreciate the distinct flavors in each dish (unlike in some other restaurants where the tastes tend to blend together). My friends ordered meat dishes and were very pleased with them. The chef even tried the Kitfo (a raw beef dish) for the first time! Our server, Rahel, was friendly and welcoming. You can pair your dishes with injera (which they make with teff!) or opt for other starches like rice, making it a great option for everyone, including those who might be hesitant about injera. My friends and I enjoyed a lovely evening at Caffe Utopia."

We ate in the restaurant in the early afternoon and had practically the place for ourselves. It was nice and quiet. The food came fast and was delicious. Had the meat lovers Tibs. The mushroom stew is a hit. In any case, a must back. View menu

They were very pleasant owners. I made it to the soft opening. The food was fresh. They extended kitchen hours since I was driving from District Heights Md. The owners were very appreciative of us just coming. We are from DC and love food. Ethiopian being one.

We dined at the restaurant in the early afternoon and almost had the entire place to ourselves, which made for a pleasant and quiet experience. The food arrived quickly and was absolutely delicious. I ordered the meat lovers Tibs, and I have to say the mushroom stew was a standout. Overall, it's definitely a place we would love to return to.

"This place really helped me adjust. I later learned that people gravitate towards certain bars, and I found my favorites, especially those with live music like Birchmere, Black Cat, 9:30 Club, Lincoln, Capital One Arena, and even the now-closed O'Shaughnessy's and Rock & Roll Hotel. One of my most memorable experiences was running into Rory Sheridan on one of my first visits. He was launching his DC music campaign back then and was part of Loud Boyz. We chatted a few times, and I even caught up with some old classmates. Another highlight was when I heard about a “reunion” night before Thanksgiving, and I decided to crash it. There were moments where people could be unkind or I felt out of place, but I was given some guidance on where I would fit in better, without the unnecessary drama. Being in Old Town, I was familiar with nearby schools like West Potomac, Mount Vernon, and Bishop Ireton. During my visits, I would often take an Alexandria cab or use Metro Access, being discreet about my disability since I felt embarrassed at times. Being a regular meant navigating the tourist scene, and there were people who seemed territorial about the place, but I ended up doing quite well when I sold my house. Good times continued with events like watching RG3 play for the Redskins or meetups organized by JT. I enjoyed New Year’s celebrations and weekend outings. I also frequented other establishments like Flying Fish before it closed, and O'Shaughnessy's before I decided to stop drinking. This is a sports bar located near a bicycle shop, close to the Ben & Jerry's I used to work at, along with many other walkable bars for bar hopping, like Union Street Pub and Fish Market. It can be a great place to have fun, but with the good comes some downsides. Overall, I felt well-hosted and respected here, despite some things I was not initially aware of or didn’t want to uncover."

"My friends and I went to Cheesetique for restaurant week. We sat outside. The space was great, the weather was great. Upon arrival, it took a server about 15 minutes to come to our table, and that was only after a friend went inside to ask for someone to service us. The server who had served our friends, who had arrived 10 minutes prior, was bartending. We ordered our drinks and food at the same time. The drinks came out relatively soon after. The food took a normal amount of time to come out of the kitchen. We got the watermelon, quinoa salad and truffle balls as apps. There was no dressing with the salad, just spinach leaves, watermelon, and quinoa. It was very basic. The truffle balls, although good, were balls of cheese. They gave huge cheese balls but only 3 tiny pieces of bread. We ordered a Mac and cheese for the table which was not salted very well at all. For the main course, we ordered gnocchi, pot pie, and braised beef. The beef and mashed potatoes were the best. The pot poe and gnocchi were not nearly salted enough. All the food came out 'warm ' at best. Dessert was fine. Overall, not at all worth the amount we paid for restaurant week. We were left disappointed. The service was slow. I do understand they might have been short staffed, but even waitresses who were not our servers looked as us, after being there for 15 min and walked past. We asked someone to get us water, which was never brought to us, so overall, disappointed in our dining experience, considering how much we paid."
