"I've passed by this restaurant a hundred times without stopping, but today we decided to try it for dinner, and I'm so glad we did! The lamb biryani was among the best I've ever had, and the garlic naan was thick and perfectly moist. The spices balanced beautifully as I ate, without being overpowering. They also offer takeout, which I'll definitely consider for next time. Our server was fast, professional, and friendly. We will definitely be adding Essence of India to our regular dining rotation!"

The food was decent but it could be better and more authentic.

Our favorite dishes are the Murg Tikka Masala and garlic naan. They are simply delicious! Plus, the location is fantastic.

eating was amazing! the butter chicken was so tasteful and the chicken was really tender, the naan was delicious, and the saffron rice was paired with everything. the staff is also super nice and the food came out very quickly! 10/10 would recommend!

Excellent food, speedy service, friendly vibe. I ordered “spicy” and was put to the test. I loved it. If you’re not a fan of really spicy food I’d definitely recommend ordering mild. Don’t risk it with medium. Can’t wait to have my leftovers tomorrow View menu

Essence of India is my favorite Indian in all of Chicago. If you're looking for incredible, authentic Indian food, you can't find better than Essence. If you're looking for a mild, plain old butter chicken, perhaps a Thai restaurant serving Indian food would be more your speed.

We enjoyed our Naan, Malai Kofta, and Lamb Vindaloo. I definitely would recommend the Vindaloo most highly. The malai Kofta portion felt a little small (two pieces and sauce). The warm atmosphere was perfect for a late afternoon meal. They also have a nice selection of wine and beer.

The food was delicious, and the service was knowledgeable. I’ll definitely return. My friends weren’t as pleased with their dishes, as they found the coconut flavor overwhelming and the spices lacking. However, my chicken and naan were perfect. I’m eager to try more items from their menu. View menu

excellent eating, quick service, friendly atmosphere. although they have to order rice separately from the gut, it is very much worth the $3. I ordered spicy and was put on the test. I loved it. if you?re not a fan of really spicy food I?d definitely recommend order mild. I can wait tomorrow until I have my rest?

I wasn't very impressed with the taste, to be honest. I ordered the chicken shahi korma, and it turned out to be sour. The murg lajwab also didn't live up to my expectations. I've had both dishes at other Indian restaurants, and they were much better. Additionally, the delivery was late. Perhaps these dishes aren't their specialty—I can't say for sure.

"Tempesta is arguably one of the best sandwich shops in the city. They make a lot of their meats in house and use high quality ingredients so you know you’re getting the good stuff. Not only can you get a great sandwich, you can purchase most of their meats to go as well as other small artisanal grocery items. I have tried almost every sandwich they have on the menu but my top two choices would be the #1 The Dante and the #2 Yo! Vincenzo! The Dante is their version of a classic Italian sandwich but a bit on the spicier side. The Yo Vincenzo is a chicken parm and I personally think it’s the best chicken parm sandwich in the city. The chicken is perfectly crispy, and they use just the right amount of sauce where it doesn’t get soggy. Both of these sandwiches come on their fresh baguette which helps set them apart from other sandwich spots in Chicago just because of how good it is. The B Franklin is also a great option, and if you’re starving get the Wagyu Pastrami but be warned it is a very heavy sandwich because of that Wagyu. The last pro tip I’ll add in here is order your sandwich ahead of time if you’re doing takeout. This is a very popular spot and is always busy during the lunch rush so if you wait to order until you arrive you may need to wait for 10-15 minutes. That should speak to how good this place is because it’s in such high demand, so if you’re in Chicago make sure you stop in!"
