"I really enjoy restaurant week, and the menu at this place looked appealing, so I decided to give it a shot. There's a small parking lot at the back, which is a big plus for a downtown location. We walked in and were greeted and seated right away. I wasn't sure why reservations were necessary since the restaurant was nearly empty. The staff was a bit rude; for instance, as we were leaving, one staff member asked if she had run our credit card—almost implying we were trying to dine and dash. It's hard to believe she could forget given that there were only about four or five tables occupied. Additionally, the service was quite slow, with a long wait between courses. The food was decent but not exceptional. The steak was cooked well (medium rare), but the sides could have used a bit more seasoning. The chocolate cake was definitely the highlight of the meal. Overall, I would consider returning if I were in the area and it was convenient, but I wouldn't choose this place as my first option."

The establishment has been closed for a year now. It seems pointless to write a review when the restaurant isn't even open anymore.

A hidden gem in the heart of Albany Downtown. Words can't explain the flavor of the amazing food being prepare at this place. The only way to find out is trying in it. Wow!

Very poor experience during Restaurant Week waiter seemed annoyed to be serving us and they ran out of their Prime Rib special by 7pm the place wasn't even that busy.. it's a gorgeous establishment but the service and food is awful.. save your money and go to one of the many other great restaurants in Albany!

Hudson Harbor is a family-owned steakhouse in downtown albany in an old rail building. They are not vegan or vegetarian friendly (duh) but what they do provide is very good and homemade. Their service has always been friendly and personal (the chef/owner's son has been our server most of the time). The menu is small and carefully prepared. I've always enjoyed my experiences there. Have been back many times since original review and definitely still a solid 5 star review. The Coquilles St Jacques is to die for. Perfectly broiled scallops in an amazing rich sauce! My husband usually gets the Reef and Beef and raves about it through the whole meal. Even the homemade salad dressings are delicious. Combined with attentive service and located in an interesting historical building (I believe the old ticket house for the train station) its one of my Albany favorites.

I had dinner with two friends this evening at Hudson Harbor Steak and Seafood. We all agreed this was one of the best meals of our lives. I had the Beef and Reef. The ribeye was perfect and the seafood Au gratin was even better. Jimmy declared his filet was the best steak he'd ever had. Kate stated her twin lobster tails excellent. The sides, soup and apps were all perfect. Everything was made fresh so it took a bit longer than in a chain restaurant. If you're looking for a quick bite this isn't the place. It's only open weekends.

Sometimes the foodie appellative is just a pain in the ass. This is where you find yourself when you're just sick of all the pretense. What you get at Hudson Harbor is a time capsule of an undetermined date in a former French restaurant in a Dutch inspired building: perfectly mixed drinks, a dark wood-paneled and fusty ambiance that a nostalgia-burdened grandmother would love, a brief menu heavy with decades old surf and turf and beef and reef standards, and yes, canned corn served in its own little dish. And the staff is so damned friendly. View menu

They do it right. Everything is made to order, I mean pounding out veal and chicken cutlets to order, not ahead of time. The menu boldly states for patrons to be patient, that everything is made to order. Boy is it worth the wait. I had a really nice cream of chicken vegetable soup, clearly fresh and homemade and the chef even makes his own chicken stock (or beef etc). It is really impressive. Clams casino was delicious and the Beef Reef was unlike anything I have ever had. It was to die for. Super friendly family run establishment. They are only open Friday and Saturdays, so definitely plan ahead or call to confirm.

For our meals, we could choose between prime rib, salmon, or shrimp. My companion opted for the prime rib, which was served with a baked potato and steamed green beans, while I decided on the shrimp, prepared in a spicy tomato sauce. The chef kindly offered to add clams to my dish, which was a nice touch. Both our entrees came with the same side of steamed green beans. I’m happy to report that the seafood was cooked perfectly and very flavorful. The rolls brought to our table were fresh from the oven, and the salad, entrée, and dessert all exceeded our expectations and left us feeling full and satisfied. Overall, it was a delightful experience, made better by the friendly staff. Plus, there...

"We had requested the rounded corner booth in the main dining room and arrived 20 minutes early, planning to enjoy a cocktail at the bar. But instead, we were seated at a booth right next to our preferred one. A couple finished their meal shortly after we sat down, well before our 6:30 reservation. We ordered a Beefeater gin and tonic and a very dry Beefeater martini. Both drinks had an unusual, perfume-like scent that was quite off-putting. My wife sent her drink back, and I decided to switch to a Bombay martini, but the same strange floral fragrance persisted. I regularly enjoy Beefeater and Bombay dry martinis and have never experienced this odd aftertaste before. For my main course, the Duck and Porcini confit ragu had hardly any duck in it. There were only a few shreds of duck meat hidden in the tagliatelle, but no substantial pieces. My wife’s Pesto and Shrimp dish arrived swimming in a broth. While this might be a traditional way to serve it, there was no mention of broth on the menu. She had expected the pesto to be coated on the pasta and oily, rather than soupy. As much as we have loved Capriccio over the past three decades, this experience was disappointing. We didn't even stay for dessert. We'll certainly return, but I hope to avoid writing another negative review. I usually don’t share my thoughts unless absolutely necessary, but I felt compelled to do so this time."
