"I'm not convinced by these reviews. If this is the best pizza New York City has to offer, it's quite a letdown. After trying pizza at various well-known places in several major cities, I would rank them as follows: 1st Place: Boston, 2nd Place: Chicago, 3rd Place: NYC, 4th Place: Los Angeles, and 5th Place: Miami. As for Il Mattone, it's just a counter-service pizza spot, and not much more than that. The pizza appeared to have been sitting out in the counter window for quite a while. While they do reheat it in their ovens, which is a plus, I can't say it was the most flavorful or the best pizza I've had. It's decent, but not something I'd be excited to recommend."

Fast service and a local favorite, this neighborhood pizza joint is a go-to spot, although seating is somewhat limited. It's perfect for a quick bite, and the pasta dishes are quite tasty as well. Their calzones are impressively large! A couple of years ago, the menu offered a wider variety of pasta options, but the impacts of COVID and the recession have altered that. Nonetheless, it's still an excellent place for pizza.

I don’t ever leave a review, but I had to for this place. Working construction late on a Friday night. Found this pizza place. Omg, im a picky person. So it takes a lot to make me happy. the buffalo chicken slice and regular slice were unbelievable. One of the best buffalo slices I have had. You definitely got to try this place.
