"A local favorite with the best fish and chips in town! I’ve been eating at John Gs for 45 years. I was worried when they moved from the beach front shop to Plaza Del Mar but the food quality stayed the same so I made sure to visit the new location and was not disappointed. The only recent change since ownership switched hands has been the coleslaw-it’s not as good as it used to be-but everything else is great. As long as the quality doesn’t change too much, I’d be happy to eat here for another 45 years. I’ve eaten everything on the breakfast menu at least once and about half of the lunch menu items and it’s all delicious."

Nice but locale change has me take down a notche. Missing the beach view the food is still good, but nothing more special than any breakfast diner, thus giving up the view does not justify the cost. I rather go elsewhere depending if food or view is my desire. This place is great but considering locale and cost, other options are near by.

Wow! This wonderful, family owned restaurant is still providing outstanding food in generous portions with good service. I had the gazpacho soup, my daughter had the clam chowder, then I had fish and chips for my main the “petite” version was still more than I could eat. My daughter had the shrimp scampi pasta and if I could do it over that’s what I would have ordered. We can’t wait to go back. Remember, they only take cash! View menu

Always a great place to come visit. Always has a line during Peak hours. It'd be nice if they took your name and not made you stand in line. With today's technology you think they could be a little more accommodating. Doesn't stop us from going a few times a month. I highly recommend the buttons and bows. Delicious mushrooms sauteed with garlic and onions along with all your breakfast fixings. They're always busy for a reason because it's good.

I went in there to have lunch the waitress that waited on us took my $40 to go pay my bill kept $5 of it without permission didn't even give me my correct change I was supposed to get $15 back I got 10 back so she stoled $5 from me plus I gave her a tip a $5 I will never ever go back there to eat and have her as my waitress never ever again she's very rude she's an older lady and I sat in the back where the people would take the dishes and stuff I don't mean I don't know her name but I sure wish I did so I wonder who all she steals money from
