"This place, as a local, took up the slack when all the other restaurants became glorified pub food on the north shore after Covid. I walked into this establishment at 5:00 pm. It was a Sunday night and everything else was closed. I went to sit at the bar with two nearly empty glasses at two bar seats with another local saying, you can't sit there and we couldn't sit at the seat on the other side of him. I watched for 1:20 hours as these seats remained empty. My friend and I ordered the blackened ahi. The ahi was so grizzly that it was barely edible. This will be the last time I go back in a very long time. It is a shame because I would recommend it to everyone that was visiting me here."

Menu online has not been updated for who knows how long. They only have 6 items available currently unless you intend to go after 6pm

Ribs were very good! Coleslaw, not so much. Needs something as it was blah with no flavor. Excellent BBQ sauce. Will think about going back. View menu

Open 3pm-8:30pm as of 10/2023. Not too many items on the menu. The burger and fries were good for a late lunch/early dinner. The waitress was friendly too.

Had a large party eat here recently. All of the food and drinks were exceptional especially the risotto appetizer and the macadamia nut mahi. Staff was very nice and had great suggestions. Will definitely be going back and recommending to others

We were looking for a dessert place and found just the spot! The Grasshopper Pie (2 layers of Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream on an Oreo Cookie crust! We ordered TWO! Service was awesome and the casual atmosphere was perfect! The dinner entrees looked terrific and will have to go back for the whole package! View menu

My wife selected the restaurant and we both agree it is a winner. Flavorful, unusual, tasty and satisfying. I had their special which was crab cake crusted Mahi Mahi with a spicy lobster beurre blanc. My wife had the Chicken Marsala. For dessert we shared some pineapple cobbler. An excellent end to a delicious meal.

Came here for my birthday and was very happy with my experience. It’s a charming restaurant. I would definitely make reservations for dinner to get better tables. I had the mahi mahi and it was Fantastic. The chili chicken poppers were also very good. My only knit pick is the order our food came out. And I only judge because it’s fine dining. It felt very rushed with our starters, salad, drinks and entrees all coming out at the same time.

"A Disastrous Dining Experience at Avalon Gastropub My recent visit to Avalon Gastropub in Kilauea, Kauai, was nothing short of a culinary catastrophe. From the moment we walked in, it was clear that this experience would be unforgettable for all the wrong reasons. The first strike against Avalon was the excruciating wait for any semblance of service. We waited a mind-numbing 20 minutes just to be acknowledged by our server. Another 20 minutes passed before we could place a drink order, and a staggering 55 minutes went by before 2 out of the 4 drinks we ordered made their belated appearance at our table. Shockingly, the ordeal was far from over. Our food, which arrived after the drinks (because apparently, that's a logical sequence), consisted of only 1 out of the 4 items we ordered. Distressed and perplexed, we requested to speak to the owner. Little did we know that this encounter would be the cherry on top of this disastrous dining experience. The female owner, who seemed to have left her customer service skills at home, graced our table only to dismiss our grievances with an outrageous explanation. Brace yourself – according to her, the root cause of our delayed orders was none other than an alleged glitch in Amazon's system. Yes, you read that right, Amazon, not a miscommunication or an oversight on their end. To add insult to injury, the owner shamelessly threw her server under the bus, claiming that the order wasn't entered correctly into the mythical Amazon system. The most baffling part? Everyone around us, who was seated after our party, received prompt service while we languished in culinary purgatory. The ensuing heated verbal exchange only further underscored the incompetence of the owners. No apology was offered, no solutions were presented – just a vacant and dead-eyed response from both the female and male owner. It's astounding how they allowed the situation to escalate without taking any meaningful action to rectify the situation. In conclusion, the only showstopper at Avalon Gastropub is the large whiskey wall behind the bar – everything else about this establishment is a complete and utter letdown. Save yourself the disappointment and steer clear of this dining disaster. P.S. We left $135 in cash on the table to demonstrate that we were not after a “Free Meal” or be accused of not paying for our drinks and flatbread. P.S.S. We’re Kauai people- Hawaiians. Not tourists."
