"I loved the music and atmosphere here! What a gem of calm and comfort along the busy road of life! I was treated like a good friend or family and this was my first time ever having Columbian food. I had no idea what an arepa was, or what the rolls would taste like, or the sauces, tea or desserts. I was totally blown away by all of it! I had the veggie arepa with spicy green sauce, the tea that tastes a little like it's mixed with lemonade, and DDL lover (dulce de leches) for dessert. 5 out of 5 on every item, including the bathroom and free water available in the dining area. I'm on the road a lot for work and it can be hard to find a clean restroom and access to water. Maiz ticked all the boxes all the way! I've gone from first timer to customer for life! Muchas Gracias!Kid-friendliness: I'm looking forward to bringing my whole family back for a meal!"

Arepas are a new favorite. A little messy but we’ll worth it.

We loved the arepas and the sauce. Look forward to returning to Portland to try another arepas.

A good variety of options but not a lot of flavor. Good options for gluten free. Good to have a different type of food available.

Placed an online order for pickup and it was ready and waiting. The food was amazing. Large portions and reasonably priced. Glad they had a vegetarian option!Food: 5/5 View menu

WOW this was a fantastic meal. We bought arepas and they did not disappoint! We shared several, and my favorite was the Basico with chicken. There is not a lot of space to eat inside, but takeout is easy too.

We tried many of the items on the menu.. Everything was fried and many of the items were salty. There is minimal seating i would recommend you order to go. The tres leches cake was the best part of the meal.Food: 3/5 View menu

You could choose whatever ingredients you want or pick one of the menu items. There were only a couple of vegan menu items. Tasted good and the honey sweetened sodas were great! The arepas were large and difficult to eat.

Found this gem on our way back to Boston from Acadia. A pretty and cute little place with amazing food. It was our first time trying the arepas. We had the one with grilled chicken and a veggie loaded arepa. Loved them both and the portions are huge and filling. The sauces we tried were the cilantro, spicy greens and the Sweet and spicy red sauce which was our favorite. We also loved the music playing in the background. Overall had a great experience. We also tried the drink which was a green tea with sugarcane juice and lime juice , it was delicious.Street parking is available and restrooms were clean as well.Vegetarian options: Great vegetarian options.Parking: Street parking allowed for on...

"Boxcar Pizza does creative all vegan pizza done Detroit style. I am from NY and had plenty of pizza there in the day before I was vegan. Pizza and NY are synonymous. I would love to check out Screamer's Pizza in NY next time I am there.I have only had Detroit Pizza one other time and happened to be vegan. It was alright when I had it then. I have been to Detroit where the talented rapper Eminem is from. Detroit is where the pinball like running back legend Detroit Lion Barry Sanders played. Detroit is where I was in awe when I saw the Diego Rivera murals there. Detroit isn't known for it's pizza yet lately Detroit pizza seems to be getting popular.Detroit Pizza is like a cross between Sicilian and Chicago deep dish yet comes in a square with four slices. Boxcar Pizza was named best vegan pizza this past year in Veg News magazine so had great expectations coming here. Boxcar Pizza delivered! I went with the Viktor Vaughn pizza. The pizza came with mozzarella, cheddar, kale, red onions, ricotta, mama lil's peppers, and pesto. I got it with a side of red sauce for dipping which I recommend. The pizza was very tasty. Plenty of flavor. It was a bit rich and filling for plenty of vegan cheese was used. Perhaps a touch less vegan cheese and other pizza pies with more veggies would be nice. I like that this pizza had plenty of veggies on it. I just got this and was able to eat it all. Each pizza serves one to two depending on your appetite. If you come with a friend or spouse might be good to split one and order a Kale Caesar salad to share.Viktor Vaughn is the real name of Dr. Doom who happens to be the arch enemy of the Fantastic Four in the Marvel Comics. Viktor Vaughn is also a British rapper. There are many different kinds of pizza here and am so happy that a vegan pizza place delivers tasty vegan pizza. I hope they open up branches in other cities.Recommended!"
