"Had not been to a red lobster in years because we were not happy with the last experience. It was my husband’s birthday and he really wanted lobster so we gave it another try. Signed up for priority seating through open table a week before his birthday. When we arrived tonight we were told it would be 20-30 mins before we’d be seated. It ended up being 75 minutes. That is in no way someone demonstrating that we are a priority. We went up to the hostess a few times to see where we were on the list and were told 2 people were in front of us on 2 different instances. Many people in the waiting area were unhappy and had been waiting lengthy periods of time even with having priority seating or using the call ahead option, which people commented was labeled reservation. We heard the host staff tell dozens of people the wait was 15 minutes when that was clearly inaccurate. There were many tables empty in the restaurant and wait staff were coming up to the host stand clearly ready for tables but there was disorganization when seating. The company should not use open table or have an option to reserve a spot through their app if they cannot manage the flow of people. Also, they don’t even have a process whereby you can leave the restaurant to wait in your car. No pagers, no text, just have to stand there in a packed space waiting for them to call your name. Standing for 75 mins is unacceptable. There is clearly an issue with management. On a Saturday evening there should not be tables sitting with nobody seated at them for the entire length of our dinner while there was a waiting area full of people waiting to eat. They also need a lesson in estimating. The only thing that saved the evening was our waiter who was extremely patient, apologetic, and did whatever he could to salvage what should have been a nice birthday dinner for my husband. He was awesome! The food was good. The experience on the front end of our visit was horrendous. We will not return."
