The herb roasted chicken was fantastic! I give it five stars. The brownie sundae also deserves five stars. However, the pork chop was a bit plain, so I would only give it three stars.

Loved this place for lunch! They open early (11 am) which was great because we skipped breakfast. Had the fried olives as an appetizer which were pretty good. Only for real olives lovers which o am. Also had the Avocado BLT which was yummy. Might have preferred on something other than white toast but still light and flavorful. The homemade old bay chips were awesome .

We had a terrific meal here on a Friday night in July 2018. If you or oysters to start and then my wife and I shared a burger and the apple-fennel salad. I had the rose but the cocktails are terrific according to the others in our party (the greyhound). Our server was terrific but I can't recall her name. Wow!!! I'm so excited we have another great place to go to in Shelter Island! Food service were great and the decor was outstanding. Hats off to the designer...It's so pleasant inside. This is a very kid friendly lunch spot (burger was amazing) and has a beautiful and stylist bar in side. We're always looking for something new on Shelter Island and this is the place!!! I have never walked out of a restaurant ever. The atmosphere was beautiful and the menu looked wonderful... to bad I wasnt able to eat it. The service was unbelievably bad... while yes there was only one waiter (apparently the other waiter called out) when I discovered that a table of 6 got, who sat down after us, got their food before us, we were a table of 4, I had had enough. After an hour of sitting there for two people I was with to not even get their appetizers is ridiculous. To be this unprepared so close to the beginning of the Hampton's summer season is really bad... they better have more than two waiters on a weekend day during the season or more people will walk out. Better get it...

The best dinner we had during our three night stay on Shelter. Lovely menu with something for everyone. Great service professional/fine dining unlike another restaurant we went to that had inexperienced kids as servers while attempting to be an upscale restaurant. The atmosphere brings an updated cool while keeping with the Shelter Island chill. The wine list was good local options mixed in a less pinot noir by glass would have been nice. The fluke was amazing. The brownie sundae was out of this world. Blegh, average, so so for overall lack of personality or flavor and loses 1 star for the inexplicable slow service and lack of pacing. It took forever for apps to arrive (clam chowder, just put it in a bowl! . No bread or rolls to keep us occupied. Entree was slow too. Beef tenderloin tasted like it was parboiled and thrown on the grill. No seasoning, no sauce, nothing redeeming and was served underdone. Pork chop was huge and only flavor was the char. The Chequit, a beloved restaurant on Shelter Island, has recently been renovated and now, as one reviewer accurately put it, it seems to be trying to emulate the Hamptons vibe. After a somber event, we stopped by for a drink and a burger around 3pm, as Flying Goat was too crowded. However, we should have realized that something was off when we noticed a few hints: the place was completely empty, there were only young staff members on duty, and there were errors on the menu (like listing draft beers that they didn't actually have). Come. On. I really don 't like to leave bad reviews, but then again I don 't often see the need to leave good reviews. I mostly review to warn others. I think I should think more about this aspect of my personality. Am I altruistic? Or is it just easier for me to complain? Uncomfortable truths abound.
