"I 'm a Charleston local and used to enjoy going to Rutledge Cab in its early years. It was good food, good environment, good fun. The past year or so has gone down hill, with my last visit said to be my last. However, we decided to give it another chance last night. What a let down. It was hot inside. We were sat at a window table with the hot July sun beaming in on us even though half the restaurant was empty with better, cooler seating available. I asked the server if the sangria was red or white and she said that 's a good question. The fried pickles were fried hard with burnt pieces in the bottom and the pickles very greasy. One of us ordered fish and chips. The server sets down a chicken sandwich in front of her while calling it fish and chips. When it was pointed out, she gets the manager who also couldn 't tell that it wasn 't fish. So my grandmother had to wait for her correct meal while the rest of us had ours. They bring her the fish and chips and the hushpuppies and fries were as overcooked as the pickles had been. Pretty sure that grease is old and dirty. Before she can finish eating, they are bringing the check. With 80% of the food still on her plate, she was never offered a box. The manager 's excuse was there is a new person in the kitchen who has a lot to learn. She felt she 'd made right on it with a discount of $7.80. Not even a full comp of that messed up meal. The overall ambiance, service, and quality of food has diminished greatly. It 's no surprise they were less than 1/2 occupied on a Saturday night when every Charleston restaurant is packed."

We all enjoyed burgers and milkshakes. It was later in the afternoon, so it was quieter than usual. The place seemed like a fun hangout for the neighborhood.

We had a pregame meal before the Riverdogs. Great happy hour snacks to start(fried pickle chips and firecracker fried shrimp). Burgers and fish tacos were outstanding.

I ordered the shrimp and grits, and I really should have sent it back. What I received was more like a soup; I had to search for the grits and shrimp. It was just so watery—definitely not what I expected. For $30, I only got about four shrimp in that soupy dish. View menu

The first time I ordered the shrimp burger and sweet potato fries, it was amazing. I was dining in at the restaurant. Last night I ordered the same meal for takeout. The sweet potato fries were great. But the so called shrimp burger did not have any shrimp in it. It was pure mush. It was awful. Very disappointing and nasty.

Not my first time here. I was craving a Rueben. What I got was very burnt dried out corned beef. So unacceptable to try to present this! Waitress promptly brought back to kitchen and another one was brought out with the same, now cold sweet potato fries. Happy hour beer was expensive despite $1.00 off on certain tap beer only. Wished I’ve have know, 7.50 and 8.50 for a pint is crazy. And lastly, new credit card/debit card added fee of 2.50. I won’t recommend or ever go back. Too many other places to spend hard earned money.? View menu

We ordered a Reuben sandwich, fries, and a chocolate milkshake. The service time was reasonable, but unfortunately, the Reuben was packed with excessively fatty corned beef, making it virtually inedible. Our server didn’t check on us until we had pushed our plates away. I mentioned that I couldn’t eat the sandwich due to the fat, and she simply said she would take it away. I also reminded her about my milkshake order, and she acknowledged it, noting that she didn't think it was ready yet. When she finally brought it out, it was runny and tasted like it had been made with spoiled milk. There were no apologies for any of this. Overall, this was one of the worst dining experiences we've ever ha...

Rutledge Cab is one of our favorite places to eat. We have been going there for years. A big part of the reason it’s on our favorites list is Marco. Marco is the best bartender in Charleston and we head to Rutledge Csb at least once a month when we know Marco will be working. I have no idea how, but he has our drinks ready when we walk in the door! When we came to eat the other night, Noah was behind the bar and at first we were disappointed because we love Marco so much. But he was working as Manager that night, which didn’t surprise us because he is the obvious choice for a promotion. When we came in, Marco ran over and gave us both hugs and then bought our first drink! He checked in with...

"I just have one word that describes my experience here. WOW It was an absolute experience coming here. We were in town for my birthday and decided to eat here for my bday dinner/last night in Charleston. The vibe and atmosphere were classy, fun, and calming. They have a main bar area where you can grab a drink while you wait for a table and can be quite lively later in the evening. The dining rooms are towards the back, a lot quieter and more intimate so has a flavor for whatever you are into. The service was absolutely perfect. Our server (I wish I would have gotten her name she served our party of two at 10pm on Saturday 8/17) was so insanely friendly and personable. She knew her stuff and then some when it came to presenting the menu, but also would come chat with us and give us tips and recs for Charleston as she knew we were from out of town. They also gave us a free cheesecake and glasses of champagne on the house for our celebration. Just overall made us feel incredibly special and welcomed (we don't normally eat at places like this lol). The food, omg.....I am not overstating or being hyperbolic.......this was hands down without a doubt the greatest steak I have ever had in my life. Nothing even comes close. I had the Dry Aged Ribeye, and it has completely ruined steak for me because nothing will ever be that good. My girlfriend got the Filet, and it was in the same ballpark. Just legendary. We also got a side of the lobster Mac Cheese and it was fluffy with a perfect crust on top. Amazing flavor and texture. If you ever have the opportunity to dine, do yourself a favor and go. This was one of the best dinner experiences I have ever had. Thank you for making it a wonderful experience to the wait staff, the chef, servers, everyone there played a part and gave me a memory I will hold onto forever. Thank you!!"

"My fiancé and I were engaged on 12/22/17 and he planned our solemn dinner with Circa 1886, and it was nothing less amazing. Charles was our waiter and delivered the best service we had ever experienced. The next day we even called the restaurant to rave over our experience. The service was like a clockwork, but we were not rushed. Our glasses were never half empty and our cutlery was replaced by any course. We received free champagne regularly $34/glass) and customized congratulation menus to start the meal. All the questions we had on the menu were answered and Charles gave great suggestions for meals. I ordered the Intermezzo cocktail and my fiancée ordered the famous Scotch cocktail, both were great. We ordered the scallops and the beets and chèvre as starters. The scallops were cooked for perfection. Very buttery and melt in your mouth - I wish more than 2 came on the plate! The beet and the Chèvre were exquisite with cool goat cheese sauce. We ate every bite. 2 bite-sized free snacks were provided by the cook - one was a spoon with a cheese cube, almond and cherry, the other was a divided Lima bean soup. YUM. As for dinner, my fiancée did the 5 courses tasting menu beef pate, heirloom tomato salad, pheasant, lamb, pumpkin soap) and he enjoyed everything. The portions were generous and Charles gave me additional plates so that I could choose the different dishes. I ordered the triple potato gratin I am vegetarian and it was from this world. Very sweet and delicious. Charles then surprised me with a free dessert course of the Smores). Both plates were decorated with congratulations in chocolate - it was a very special note. When we included the $200 check with a generous tip) we felt like the experience and the food was worth 100% the money. We will definitely be back and would recommend everyone and everyone."
