"I’ve been wanting to try Scarpetta for awhile now. We had reservations for restaurant week but had to cancel, so I was especially excited about finally getting here. I don’t know where to begin because everything was fabulous. The drinks were on point. The focaccia… oh the focaccia. Delish. I broke my “always order the burrata” rule because I wanted to try the octopus since you can’t get it everywhere and it has to be cooked just right to be good. It was perfect and a great way to begin the meal. The pastas are all homemade and incredibly delicious. We had the tortellini and the gnocchi and they literally melted in your mouth. We also had the scallops and the NY strip and each was cooked properly and an explosion of taste. Though we were stuffed, it was my birthday dinner, so dessert was a must. That was fabulous as well. They wrote Happy Birthday on the plate and even though I tried to prevent the singing, my boyfriend insisted and the staff sweetly complied. Sal was our waiter and he made the evening very special and enjoyable. We also loved Seamus at the valet station. Well done Rittenhouse and Scarpetta! I will absolutely return."

This was our second time dining here and definitely won’t be our last. The bread basket with spread options was a wonderful intro to our meal. We loved the beet appetizer and the agnolotti. We shared a fish entree. We had no room for dessert. View menu

The view at this restaurant is amazing! We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner, and my husband loved everything he ordered. I was a bit surprised by the polenta I ordered as it was different from what I was expecting, but the staff quickly and without hesitation replaced it. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you find yourself in Rittenhouse.

Very slow service, never had a consistent waiter, bolognese was very dry and some of the dessert was inedible. We had to switch birthday reservations here last-minute for a party of 7 due to a mistake in another place’s booking; I understand now why we were able to get a big table at Scarpetta (poor service, C- quality food). There are plenty of other better Italian spots in the city I’d recommend over this place.

Staff was great! Attentive! I had salmon which was undercooked and really not edible except around the edges. I am not someone who complains about food served to me. In retrospect I should have specified that I wanted it prepared medium cooked but serving salmon rare is unusual. I am accustomed to going to the better restaurants in the areas I live (NY metro and Boston) and this has never happened before. Other foods served were great. View menu

We had a wonderful server named Ryan who went above and beyond to make our anniversary dinner special by providing glasses of champagne for our toast. However, the rest of our experience fell short of our expectations. Italian restaurants are known for their pasta dishes, but unfortunately, this was not the case here. My gnocchi was undercooked and my husband's was overcooked, leading us to leave without finishing our meal and seek out another restaurant.

We enjoyed a delicious arugula and fig salad followed by wonderful pasta dishes at this restaurant. The pasta with spare rib was exceptional, while the one with lobster was slightly less impressive. The gelato was good, although we prefer the gelato at Fiero in North Philly. The service was delightful, with helpful recommendations and just the right amount of attention and participation. We were able to enjoy a quiet and lovely dinner in each other's company, with the added bonus of a beautiful view over Rittenhouse Square. Thank you for a great dining experience.
