"Made reservation at S W as other steakhouses nearby were booked. When we arrived there were about customers in outside bar area and in the inside bar area. We were met by the manager who discouraged us very politely from being seated in the main dining room upstairs....because it was empty. The food overall was good. The angry shrimp appetizer was way over priced at for less than jumbo fried shrimp and no lobster was detected in the butter lobster sauce. The sides seemed small and were unremarkable. Filet and ribeye were very good, but priced higher than all other similar steakhouses in the area, making it a poor value. S W should also offer a or oz. filet to be more competitive. As one customer was leaving, a bunch of parts fell off of the front door closer and there's some painting and freshening up that needs to be done. Server was very friendly we were his only table at Monday, but the prices here don't justify a return visit"

Food was a step down from what we experienced the last time we came here. Service was very slow. They were obviously short staffed

This meal cost for on new years eve. The filet was tough, the rissotto was good, the desserts just average. The wine average and the service was miserably bad. I wont go back

Steaks consistently good. Tried a Ribeye carpaccio appetizer that was excellent! Thinly sliced, tender ribeye served with arugula and Thin Parmesan crisps. Service wasis always attentive View menu

The food was good in general but for such a high priced steak I expect it to be excellent, especially for a Filet cut. My other guest ordered the boneless Sirloin and it was not a good cut of meat. The floor leading from the dining area to the restroom had a spill which nobody bothered to clean up so all your guest that night walked around with sticky shoes. It was not the memorable birthday celebratory meal I hoped for....best regards,Joel A. Kennedy

I will not return. For the prices we paid, the quality of the steaks was terrible. Not tender and each had gristle. The sauce that came on the steak was clearly not made fresh. The asparagusvegetables appeared to be canned and not fresh. Everything appeared to be premade instead of made to order. I understand some dishes can be done ahead but not everything. The meal was served warmroom temperature and the only thing that was served hot was the bread. Overall it was disappointing. The only thing consistent and good was the service View menu

The last time I went to Smith Wollensky, they were reluctant to seat me upstairs at lunch. I like to sit upstairs and overlook Westheimer and the Highland Village shopping area while I eat. They said the AC wasn't working properly, but they ultimately allowed me to sit upstairs, and it felt just fine to me. This time, they declined to seat me upstairs, saying they didn't have enough wait staff or something to that effect. I even put in my reservation that I wanted to sit upstairs. I'm not sure what to think of this. It sounds like laziness on the part of the servers. For this reason, my experience wasn't what it could have been, so I'm giving a review

This was my first time ever dining here. My boyfriend has been here previously and I had seen and read on the exceptional service here at this restaurant and was highly intrigued. He and I were celebrating a birthday together and the entire time there the service was stupendous. Kristy, our waitress, was magnificent. Her energetic personality got her a pretty good tip, hope she keeps up the good work! Her dilemma to deliver the food and what the food contains was fabulous and spoton. That girl deserves a raise let me tell you. From the beginning when I arrived I was greeted in a professional manner and first impressions are definitely important to me. From the first face I saw, Omar, to the...

"Food good. Location good. Service good. BUT, the hidden charges REALLY ruined an otherwise nice experience. Example: HH menu lists Martinis as a $3 upcharge to the $7 base charge. Fair enough. Bombay is a listed alcohol; requested. When the bill was returned I was charged for a Bombay Sapphire which is not on the HH list. Charge? $11 $3. I asked for Bombay, not Bombay Sapphire. Waiter: Oh, let me look into that. AND, by the way Blue Cheese olives? Extra $1. REALLY? I 've NEVER paid extra for BC olives ANYWHERE. AND the confusing menus that a dish as including an extra sauce, [and I don 't recall the exact language but it made it seem that an additional items could be selected as well. Oops, there goes an extra $10.95. AND, the waiter recommending a twice-baked potato. Bah, boom, another $5.95. [which in fairness is disclosed on the menu in a different location, but waiter made it sound as if it was a no-charge option on the surf and turf. AND the split plate charge which I don 't think was disclosed on the menu. Ding, ding, extra $3.00. Was this a waiter, who was overly up-selling or restaurant deception? Don 't know. As I said, the food WAS good. AND, the ambience [at least in the bar area, stay away of the hotel-ballroom-like main dining area was nice. Just beware the nickel and dime charges that the waiter won 't be disclosing to you."
