Went out with the wife for a date night and was impressed. The outdoor dining was unique and the food and drinks were great. Higher priced food but well worth it.

For fine food in South Bend Carriage House cannot be topped. The food and service was excellent. The menu changes regularly, so every visit will be a new experience. There are outdoor seating when the weather is allowed. Many parking spaces.

Awesome garden setting. Delicious food. Bill for 2 of us [2 appetizers, 2 entrees, 1 cocktail, 1 glass of wine and 2 draft beers] $100 plus 20% tip (good service). After 6pm plan on long sleeves and long pants and mosquito repellent for your head. Great experience overall. Recommend. View menu

What a wonderful place! The atmosphere, the gardens, the food, drinks, and the live entertainment was all top notch. We had cocktails, appetizers, and pizzas made in the outdoor pizza oven, all while listening to live jazz music. Then took a relaxing stroll with a glass of rose wine through the garden. Staff was friendly and attentive. We’ll be back very soon!

The ambiance and the servers were great. As a vegetarian there are very limited options. We spent a good deal of time fighting the bees flying around the patio. If you're a carnivore then definitely go for a burger, the 1851 was recommended by someone else in my party. However the pizzas and dessert are not worth the price. If I were to go back I would just go for drinks and appetizers.

The Carriage House is a hidden gem in the north Indiana/South Michigan area! The food was genuinely spectacular and the service was extremely high-quality; professional but friendly. This is a great place to chill and eat authentic, genuinely wonderful cuisine. The location features beautiful scenery that gives off refined European vibes. We really wanted to give this place a higher rating! It has been a cherished tradition for our family, and we've visited many times before. Unfortunately, our recent experience was disappointing. We arrived at 6:50 for our 6:45 reservation and were met with uncertain expressions from the staff. After we were seated, it took 25 minutes before anyone came to ask if we wanted a drink. We ended up waiting 3.5 hours for our first two courses, and when we left at 10:15 PM, we still hadn’t received our main course. It's frustrating because the first two courses we did have were absolutely delicious!

This place is absolutely stunning! We arrived close to sunset and were able to take in the views both during the day and as night fell, with the lights bringing the garden to life and creating a fairy tale atmosphere. The food was phenomenal; the Chef's Special Shrimp was the best I've ever had, and I will probably be craving it forever! Everything we tried was wonderful, and we sampled a lot! The drinks were also delicious—not overly strong—and perfectly captured the essence of late summer. I highly recommend this place, and if you can, arrive an hour before sunset—it’s truly a sight to behold and sets the perfect mood for the evening.

Overall, the experience was disappointing. While the grounds were lovely, the service left much to be desired. It took around 20 minutes for us to receive our first drink after being seated, and that was likely only because I was actively watching the server. Our starter, the burrata beet salad, consisted mostly of beets, making it unremarkable, and our main dishes took another 40 minutes to arrive—definitely not worth the wait. The restaurant wasn't busy, and it seemed like there was only one server on duty; at one point, the bartender even disappeared.
