"Not much hospitality at all to be honest. There were four of us, and here is what we ordered1. Chicken fried chicken with eggs and potatoes2. Biscuits and gravy with potatoes3. Stuffed French toast cream cheese4. Chicken spaghettiThe first one was okay. The oil was clearly old. Not much flavor. Eggs were okay. Potatoes are just horrible. The second one was dry. Not enough gravy. Plus gravy was cold. Potatoes once again horrible. The third one was okay. The cream cheese didn't look like cream cheese. Didn't really look appealing. Plus there was a typo on the menu so we were expecting strawberries with it, but when they brought it to us there were no strawberries. They ended up giving us strawberries at the end.The fourth one was okay.Overall, it was okay. Food was edible. There are plenty of places with much better food. Don't waste your time."

Love the atmosphere and live music. The booze infused ice cream along with my slice of pecan pie, was magnifique! This will be a regular spot for me to just have a good old fashioned good time.

We visited for breakfast and were very disappointed. The food was neither fresh nor hot, and most of it seemed pre-cooked. The bacon was overcooked, the gravy had an unusual herb flavor that definitely shouldn't be in cream gravy, and the apple strudel flapjacks were just regular pancakes with cinnamon apples and oats mixed in. The biscuit was cold and dry. This was our first and last visit.

I used to frequent this restaurant in the 90’s… we looked forward to eating here on our shopping trips on the square. Feeling nostalgic, I brought my cousin here and I was SOOOO disappointed! This was the lettuce that came on the pitiful hamburger with a stale bun and barely melted piece of cheddar cheese. (Wish I had thought to take a picture)With all the new restaurant choices in downtown McKinney, I’m surprised they are surviving! View menu

Gave one star because you cant give none. My husband and I stopped in for sandwiches. Service was terrible, our sandwiches sat for 10 mins getting cold. My husband's Ruben was dry and lacking. Bread was dry, cornedbeef was dry, and barley any meat. My chicken pesto panini was lacking enough chicken to put all of the chicken on one half of the bread to cover the bread. Asked to speak to a manager and waited another 20 mins. Won't be back and do not suggest to anyone.

Wonderful restaurant with old fashioned feel and great food. Have dined here for lunch a few times, tried something different on the menu at each visit, and have never been disappointed at the quality of the food. Atmosphere is laid back and comfortable. Staff is very friendly and helpful. They have an ice cream counter called The Cocktail Creamery. They make all their own ice cream and have dozens of flavors. Absolutely fabulous ice cream! Enjoy a day of shopping then make The Pantry a must for lunch and an ice cream. You won't be disappointed. Located just off the main town square on Louisiana Street. Highly recommend.

If you were to list 100 effective ways to run a restaurant, The Pantry seems to have found 101 ways to do the opposite. The service was excruciatingly slow, and my burger was quite disappointing. My son did enjoy his slice of pie, but overall, the food was just average. I usually only take the time to write a review if I have a strong reaction, whether it be overwhelmingly positive or negative. Unfortunately, the woman taking our orders was painfully slow, and when I asked a young man for ketchup, he merely pointed and told me to get it myself. Yet, despite this experience, the staff still expected a 20 percent tip. I won't be returning unless absolutely necessary. View menu

I had the pleasure of visiting this wonderful restaurant after my colleagues recommended it for lunch. It's just a short stroll from the square to get there. As soon as I walked in, I felt like I was in a Texas version of a Hallmark movie—so nostalgic! They offer daily specials as well as a menu full of options, and don't forget to try the pie—it's a must! Most of us opted for the meatloaf, which was moist and delicious. The green beans and cornbread were excellent accompaniments. I really enjoyed the chocolate cake and coconut cream pie; I would have preferred a bit more sweetness, but if you like semi-sweet, you'll be in heaven! This restaurant is a fantastic local business with plenty of...

We went as a group to The Pantry for dinner and while the menu has great variety, we were surely disappointed in the quality. It's almost as if they precook everything then warm it up.I ordered the chicken fried steak, which was okay but the mashed potatoes and gravy were all cold. The fried okra had clearly been sitting under a heat lamp. Others in the party had the same experience, luke warm chicken spaghetti, over cooked onion rings (again almost like they were cooked, then recooked to heat up).The restaurant is also self-serve. You order at the counter and they will bring out but pretty much everything else is on your own.The ice-cream store is wonderful but while in a shared location, i...

"Our family has been ordering home delivery from this 54th Street location for over a year now and we have never had an issue with delivered food. My kids love the street kid burgers and waffle fries. Other household favorites include the burgers, steaks, gyro, and gringo dip. We've eaten at location twice. The location is about what you would expect from current day sports leaning bars. Lots of TVs, especially around the bar, an eclectic mix of memorabilia on the walls, and Americana leaning music, mostly country and classic Rock with the random top 40 from fifteen years ago mixed in.The first time the service was good. There was a slight mix up when our steak came out and I received another customer's well done steak, and he received my medium steak. The server noticed the mix up immediately and took both steaks back immediately. We were a few tables apart under the same server in the same section. Mistakes happen, the steak was re made, and it turned out tasty. Slight inconvenience but overall the food was good, service was excellent, and there was nothing to complain about. The manager came by and apologized all over himself, but we assured him everything was okay, that it was just a mistake, etc. We were not unhappy at all and the manager was very apologetic. Our must recent trip we were seated under a very attentive server. She took our order promptly, made sure we always had drinks more than half full on the table, and was very quick to remedy any minor issues. Unfortunately the quality of the steak on this trip was just not good. I'm not sure if the restaurant has made any alterations to the recipes being used to prep meat in the kitchen, but there was an overwhelming, unpleasant smoke flavor to the steak. I hesitated to send the steak back, but the server insisted another steak be cooked. I do not like to send food back, I apologized for inconveniencing her and the kitchen, but the smoke flavor was so overwhelming the steak was really inedible. When the steak was replaced it was cooked closer to order temperature and the flavor was a little less smokey, but still undesirably strong. It was good enough to eat most of and we took the leftovers home. After warming the remainder to eat at home it was quite rare on the end that was left uneaten in the restaurant. The steak was ordered medium and after reheating at home there were dark red areas in the middle of the steak. The overall texture was also not great, nearly like it was steamed and the sear was non existent. The server was, again, awesome. She apologized, informed the manager, discussed a course of action with the kitchen, and did her best to make it right. But at the end of the day the steak was just disappointing. I had hoped the manager would stop by so I could ask what changed regarding the steak preparation, but at no point did he stop by our table. Gringo dip was still great, my husband enjoyed his gyro, but the steak was a giant disappointment.Overall, despite the great service, the food being sub par at a restaurant (and in this economy) makes me think we should try another local steak and burger joint. : sad to say because we had really grown to like this place."

"For our anniversary dinner, which we had booked weeks in advance, we were seated at a cramped and noisy bar table. The only acknowledgment of our special occasion came from the host. We ordered the market price for a pound of crab, only to find that I received perhaps three ounces of meat from a single claw. Their response to our dissatisfaction was a mere $25 refund. I've never felt so disregarded, even at chain restaurants. My husband and I enjoy discovering new places to celebrate our anniversary, and we'd been eager to try Urban Grill. Unfortunately, when we arrived, we found our reservation table was a small bar top for two, which I dislike, especially on such an occasion. Despite this setback, we tried to make the best of it. The host acknowledged our anniversary, but that was the last notable gesture. Our server Debra was friendly and attentive, and the food was indeed good. My husband enjoyed the lamb and the "little piggy" drink. I ordered the surf and turf, featuring filet and Alaskan king crab. While the filet was excellent and perfectly cooked, the crab was disappointing—just one long claw with maybe 2-3 ounces of meat. The sides were delicious, and we enjoyed the apple fritters and crème brûlée as well. However, when we received the bill, my surf and turf cost $105. The filet itself was listed at around $39, meaning we paid over $60 for a meager amount of king crab. For the same price elsewhere, I've had far larger portions. The market price for crab is listed at $69.99 for a full serving, so it felt like we were charged an excessive markup. In summary, while the food was tasty, the steep prices, uncomfortable seating, and lack of meaningful acknowledgment for our anniversary left us unimpressed. Unfortunately, due to these factors, we won’t be returning."
