"I really like the food. Very tasty and good quality. Also there is a lot of variety and different foods compared to other Mexican restaurants I have been too. The reason I am giving it 3 stars is because of the horrible service. First they told us the wait time was 45min when it ended up being 90 minutes. Then we were seated, and no one came to our table for solid 5 minutes. We asked for a hard copy menu and a busboy said he would bring us one, but never showed up again. We had to ask again as the QR code was not working due to their poor cell service. Then as we were finished, the waitress made a snarky comment about us rushing out of here when we weren 't, we were just asking for to-go boxes as we were finished eating. This is my second time at this restaurant and the first time I was in a large group and the servers kept bringing up the wrong drinks and food. From two experiences, it is evident the service staff cannot handle the pressure with large crowds or groups. The food is excellent, but I would only ever get take out as the service at this restaurant has definitely ruined my experience here."

This place is fantastic, fresh and home made. I got the beer battered shrimp tacos and they were great. Handmade corn tortillas, too. They were a bit spicy but the nachos with the fresh corn was amazing.The staff are friendly and just kind and attentive. A great experience overall.

Fantastic Mexican food, extremely high quality at a decent price.The steak I had was some of the best steak I've ever tasted. The rice is also perfectly seasoned, not a single throwaway flavor. Portions were decent as well but we still had room for flan!Definitely want to make sure you get here early since the line to get in fills up pretty fast.

I actually met the owner at LAX before they even opened. I was returning from Costs Rica and he was returning from vacation in Oaxaca, Mexico. We talked for a little bit and I resolved to try the restaurant when it opened. I don't eat out regularly, but have been to Villa Azteca 4 or 5 times. The food is ALWAYS delicious! No joke. We ordered the Salmon de crema $25 and Fish tacos $16 . The salmon was not cooked thru . The salmon crema were too greasy. I believe the salmon was fried.The rice had no taste The fish tacos had no flavor. The flan we ordered tasted like bread pudding $7 thick hard . Passion fruit tiramisu was quite tart $12 . Not worth the price. There was a $1.95 charge for transaction fee. Will not be going back.

The atmosphere was pleasant, though I would rate it just slightly lower, giving it four stars. I highly recommend trying the Cazuelita—it's a must!
