"I'm torn about doing this review, because I really wanted to be able to say I finally found a black owned spot I can actually count on, but I ended up having to throw $30 of food out because I just couldn't eat it and they didn't give me all I asked for. The customer service was great which gave me high hopes, but the food? TUH... Ordered a coconut shrimp w/ black rice, green plantains, and a side of black beans sauce. Not what I originally came for but they didn't have what I ordered (even though it was on the menu). Firstly it says online you can place a reservation to dine in. Ummm... WHERE? Is it behind the kitchen, Because I walked in and found no dining tables just counter space against the walls with a few chairs. The place IS NOT big enough to come dine in, but I digress... When they didn't have what I originally ordered I settled on the coconut shrimp, which was way too sweet and sitting on top of lettuce in the same container they put the HOT rice. Fair to say the lettuce was not eaten because it was soggy and hot. No dressing provided anyways. The person taking my order said they had black rice so I opted for that and when asked was told it came with sauce. I got neither. They gave me brown rice and beans and there was no sauce. Who eats rice dry??? I tried... The rice, though HOT, tasted like it was on the brink of spoiling and it was clear they scraped it from the bottom of the pot, because why is gratin in my $30 plate. I didn't ask for that. The green plantains I asked for was ignored and I was given barely done sweet plantains dripping in HOT grease. And the black beans sauce I asked for on the side was crazy salty. I get sometimes a thing or two being off. There's grace for that, but this was worse than that for me. And this day I was HUNGRY and craving. Ruined my night. As expensive as dining out is, I won't second chance this spot, because I have no confidence that I won't have to throw out my plate again."

I ordered the seafood mac and cheese to go. It was dry and only had 1 piece of lobster and the cheese was not cooked (shredded and not melted). This dish is too expensive for me to have to throw the entire thing into the trash.

The food at this restaurant was fantastic. We enjoyed a jerk chicken wrap, prawn bake pasta, plantains, and salmon cakes, all of which were incredibly delicious. The service was excellent, although we did have to pay for drinks that were not given to us, resulting in one less star.

This was my first time at this establishment. I attended a birthday dinner while traveling from CT. The food was great, the atmosphere was delightful unfortunately the personal bartender was not prepared with the typical requests made by the party. The Only form of payment accepted was CASH or CASH APP for a $15.00 drink in a 9 ounce plastic cup full of ice. Please do better

We call to the restaurant at 6 pm and ask if they could sit as. Hosted sad “yes, just be here not later than 7:30 pm.” We drive around the lake for 40 minutes with our 7 year old. Came before 7:30 and they told “we close sitting people, sorry” Great! Thank you, guys. Now we are one hour from our hotel with a hungry kid with us. And I think if you promise to your clients something, keep your promises. View menu

Food was good, but the atmosphere was lacking, firstly I had to ask for silverware and a plate..I got plastic silverware and paper napkins...the waitress attitude was lacking. Lastly the coconut shrimp, was not coconut shrimp, it was shrimp with coconut thrown on it. The menu is good and the prices are up there..so I didn't expect plastic. I'm from out of town so I was visiting and this not what I was expecting.

I must say my experience with Zaz was nothing but professional. I ordered a couple of platters for a bday celebration and they exceeded my expectation. Everyone raved not only about the taste of the food but the presentation. Thank you Camelia for adjusting my ordered when asked if I ordered too much and thank you chef for reaching out personally. Would highly recommend Zaz to anyone looking for a caterer at their next gathering.

I ordered from the catering menu for my son and daughter-in-law's rehearsal brunch. The food was an hour late and freezing cold! When I called to inquire where the food was, I was informed the driver would be 50 mins late (more like over an hour) with no excuse as to why. Thankfully we had other food to serve, but disappointing because the couple requested ZAZ because it was blacked owned. The food was tasty after it was warmed up (that's why I gave 3 stars), but the service and/or lack there of was disappointing. View menu

The food at this restaurant is decent, with an interesting blend of different cultures. The atmosphere, however, leaves much to be desired. The decor consists of plain gray walls and tall round tables with dirty nylon tablecloths. It seems like they may be due for a renovation. The service was average. Despite my friend's specific request for a burger without cheese due to a dairy allergy, the burger still came out with cheese on it, causing us to wait for a new one. We were surprised that they didn't offer to comp the burger. Overall, it seems like they can cook well, but may lack experience in managing a restaurant.

More than a decade ago, there was a small eatery located at 138 S near the on ramp for 95 that served the most incredible clam chowder in the world! It was rumored to be the chef's grandmother's recipe. Despite being there for a meeting, we couldn't resist the delicious chowder and would return just for that. Unfortunately, one day we drove by to find that the restaurant had permanently closed. Looking back, we realized how special that place was. This is why I am sharing my experience at ZaZ restaurant, another special place that shouldn't be missed. The chef is truly an artist, creating incredible Caribbean Latin Asian fusion dishes that are beyond amazing. The food is clearly made with lo...

"This brightly colored old restaurant in the historic Union St. district of Poughkeepsie features an unmistakable large Vegan Options mention in one of the windows, leading me to wonder if it would be an interesting find. Many fillings for items include meat, cheese, or queso fresco. The clearly marked vegan possibilities to my mind included a section with two burritos and the taco section. Other sections did not mention veg subs. I ordered 3 tacos, then one of the burritos, Gaby's Burrito. The 3-taco plate has to be made with all the same filling. Being a vegan, I chose spinach and mushroom, forgoing for example the fajita veggies option. One could elect soft or hard tortillas for the 3-taco plate. The three tacos each came wrapped in two soft corn tortillas. The menu promised cilantro, wedges of lemon, and onion, along with red and green sauces. The spinach and mushroom filling lay at the center of the tortillas. I poured on the spicy sauces, put on squeezes of lime, and used my hands to eat. I had queso fresco left out by mentioning I was a vegan. It is a relaxed meal that was as good as better than street tacos I have had in restaurants in Kingston and Red Hook, for example. I happily realized after downing my tacos, that they are largely an appetizer. I then ordered one of the two burritos in the veg burritos menu section. The burritos arrived. The earlier tacos had been fresh-veg-Mex by comparison. I did not care for the burnt-tasting brown chipotle sauce in the black beans and tofu meat sub. I could not finish my burrito. My waitress had not given me an option of other sauces. I liked the use of separate black beans instead of refried. The salad with the burrito dinner plate contained cabbage and other veggies, but was a bit wilted. The sweet, blackened plantains were sweet and were swept up in pieces at times on my fork with bites of the burrito. The tab was not high for the two dishes combined. I avoided ordering alcoholic beverages or dessert. I found the place authentic and wondered if there could not be more vegan filling options on the menu for, say, the steamed tamales or the enchiladas, classic Mexican dishes I like. Near the Amtrak station in Poughkeepsie. Off-street parking in a small lot next to the building. Mexican decor. I'll be back to this Mexican-food discovery with lunch and dinner hours.
