Service was fantastic; went for a work dinner I feel food menu could include more steak options. Dessert was the best part!

Don't wait for a special occasion to visit! The service and menu are exceptional. Tonight, we enjoyed gnocchi and seabass, and it was fantastic. When we want fine dining in the East Village, Alba is our top choice!

My favorite restaurant! Food is always cooked perfectly and they have a menu that constantly changes with new exciting options. Their unique sauces and sides really make your entree special. Staff is always warm and helpful. The art and doors that hang onthe ceiling along with the large windows are wonderful! Can't wait to go back! View menu

Maybe I caught them on an off day but the food we got was pretty poor. The meats tasted at best low quality and and in the case of the prawns tasted as though they'd gone bad. None of the dishes seemed to have any salt and while I understand you can add salt at the table for the prices charged I think it's fair to expect that food will be seasoned. Overall just a big let down.

We celebrated our anniversary last night at Alba and it was the best choice for dinner. My wife and I each had a steak, a side, a salad, and a dessert. Every person on the crew, from our waiter to the host ensured we had everything we needed, cleared plates, filled water, etc. All of the food was meticulous and delicious. I would highly recommend Alba for your next dinner choice.

An interesting little gem nestled across from a housing complex, a funeral home and a county office. The decorations interesting and the menu eclectic. I started with Alba’s salad, then the Gnocchi with the side order of potato Pave. The salad was refreshing and a little bare, the Gnocchi was delicious, the potato pave was pretty bland and had me looking for a salt shaker. Overall an interesting place to dine in Des Moines. I would recommend Alba’s but maybe try another side. As for service, it was Sunday afternoon and slow so nobody noticed me at the entrance waiting. The last time I came to Alba was 2013 my freshman year of college, and although I spent 4 years in Des Moines I never made it back. At the time I don’t think my palate was refined enough to appreciate the good food I was eating, so I am so glad I came back tonight while back in town! I love a menu that changes seasonally and Alba is dishing out some major flavors. I had the fritters which were crunchy, salty and the soy aioli that comes with them was amazing. For a larger plate I highly recommend the NY strip stroganoff. We came largely due to the review scores and comments. However, I have to say that I left a bit disappointed. Food: 3-star Service: 4-star Atmosphere: 4-star For service and atmosphere, nothing wrong and the host and waitress are super nice. But also nothing stands out from the service or the restaurant atmosphere that would deserve a 5-star. The hanging door decor is an interesting unusual one. But it can also be kinda creepy (if you watch enough horror films... . Now on Food, they do make their own noodles (in house , which is really nice and their noodles do taste fresh. We emailed in March to reserve the Chef's Table, and were delighted that they offered a 7-course tasting option. When we arrived though, no reservation was in. We did get the Chef's Table, but it was a disappointment that the tasting menu/reservation weren't honored. With that said a loss of $100-200 in revenue on their part. The service was great. The waitress/hostess crew took care of us, and didn't rush anything. They also were able to split a few things (like delightful Asparagus soup) for my wife and I. The food was fine.
