"I recently revisited Big Momma's after quite some time, specifically on July 1, 2022. While it wasn't crowded, I noticed they were preparing many orders, so I anticipated a waiting period. Unfortunately, I ended up waiting nearly 39 minutes for my meal, and when it finally arrived, the chicken was overcooked. It was extremely hard and dry. I had ordered dark meat, but when I got home, I found I only had a wing and a leg. This left me feeling quite hungry and disappointed. I understand that many restaurants are facing staffing shortages and that patience is essential these days, but considering I paid for my meal, I expected better than overcooked food."

Went to BM's for lunch yesterday and it was delicious. Was my first time eating there. I had the fried chicken, potato salad and fried okra.

Whenever we visit Charleston, we make sure to stop in Augusta to dine at Big Mama's Soul Food Restaurant. We have never been disappointed! The big pig dogs and collard greens are fantastic! Everything we've ordered has always been delicious. Without a doubt, we'll stop by again on our next trip! View menu

This is my go to fried catfish lunch in Augusta. They are consistent with their fresh tasting catfish lightly breaded and not soaked in frying grease. That's how I like it cooked! Their collard greens, fried okra and corn bread are my favorite sides. And of course what's a southern meal without sweet tea! They should have more fresh lemon because it enhances the fried catfish flavor. Their takeout is efficient too.

Really are they selling one chitterling as an order? We ordered 2 chitterling orders and received a total of maybe one chitterling for each $17 plate. It was my first and last time going to this place. They literally cut up one chitterling and put it on a bed of rice and gravy. It did not taste like anything but rice and gravy. I attempted to contact the business through their social media pages as well as called the restaurant. They out to be really shame. View menu

We were looking for a soul food restaurant that was open on Sunday, and I remembered Big Mama's, so we decided to give it a try. I was pleased with the menu, and everything was delicious. If you’re not a fan of really sweet tea, I recommend adding a bit more water to it. Overall, we enjoyed our meal. I had the fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, and green beans, while my husband ordered the chitlins with rice, greens, and rutabaga. We will definitely return!

We order the catfish, and the chicken, Mac and cheese, yams, rice and mashed potatoes. Nothing is seasoned, it looks seasoned, it 's bland as hell. Mac and Cheese is just noodles, it 's bland, not even salty. Lots of oil, no flavor The Yams are good, cinnamony but not the best The chicken is fried well but under seasoned The catfish was fried by the breading just tasted like flour, where is the SEASONING? ' The gravy on both the rice and mashed potato 's was lack luster, no salt, no flavor, just... thick meatish water The mashed potatoes taste boxed, and the rice was over cooked Update: the Red Velvet cake is red VANILLA CAKE

"Hands down the best food I've had in Augusta. In Augusta for work, and have been trying out various restaurants with the work crew. This place I is the first that had me saying I'm coming back. EVERYTHING was good! Seating is limited and there was a short (10min) then from there it's either buffet style or takeout option. We dined in, which gave me a chance to sample EVERYTHING. I started with the salmon in lemon sauce. Not overcooked and just delicious. This was my favorite. Seconds were had. Next up was the fried pork loin. Probably my least favorite protein but still good. I'm not much of a pork person and still enjoyed. Then the barbeque chicken. This..was..good. seasoned to the bone. For sides, there was some corn and lima beans and plain rice. After this, we had the beef gumbo. The gumbo truth be told was more a soup. For me gumbo needs to be a little thicker...heartier. Whatever you want to call it delicious. The beef was seasoned well, tender and the broth flavoured with okras. There was also a salad bar, and I just had a fresh salad. Typical salad toppings with some.black olives and jalapenos to spice it up a little. Not sure about the dressing, I did without. Then everything was topped off with the peach cobbler. I enjoyed this as well, probably because it was not overly sweet. But I know people are passionate about their cobbler, so opinions will very. All in all, I'm definitely going back and look forward to different daily dishes. We were told when leaving tomorrow (Friday) is fried chicken day."

"My significant other and I went to Augusta to celebrate our 5-year anniversary and asked friends in the area for recommendations. This was one of the top recommended restaurants and we were NOT disappointed. First off, we’re from Atlanta, so we’re used to really nice fine dining experiences. The food was absolutely incredible. We had steaks and the shrimp and grits as well as 2 appetizers and a side of Mac and cheese. We also had several cocktails that were creative and delicious! I’m writing this review in late December when we went the first week in November solely because it’s been on my mind to leave this review for Victoria, our incredible waitress. I know sometimes reviews can mean a lot to an owner (so I’m really hoping you see this! and I think this woman deserves some sort of raise or bonus because she’s the best waitress I’ve had in years. She made our whole dining experience. Without her, it would’ve been great food and drinks, but she made the entire experience absolutely wonderful. We were a very late reservation, so by the end of our meal the restaurant closed. Yet she still came out with a chocolate dessert and creme brûlée on a tray, said it was on her and thanked us for spending our evening with them. She said to take as long as we wanted and that just meant so much to us. So thank you Victoria. We hope our paths cross again, you’re incredible "
