"I recently returned to this restaurant for the first time since they underwent a minor remodel. The place looks fantastic and I really enjoyed the new menu layout and improved lighting. The hot towel provided was a nice touch. The food was delicious overall, although my husband wasn't a fan of his medium rare steak being served on mashed potatoes, as it caused the juices to leak everywhere. I personally loved the Branzino dish. The attention to detail in the presentation of each dish was impressive, right down to the iced tea served with simple syrup, lemon juice, and what appeared to be frozen tea ice cubes. The chef even made the rounds to check on the guests, adding a personal touch to our dining experience."

Up until the entree everyowas great. Then the $105 Wagyu steak showed up. Looked like the cheapest steak at the butchers. It was over cooked and gray. It had no taste. The carrots came covered in zaatar spice that was inedible. Next time I'll stick to the appetizers and soup.

Another amazing dining experience at Black and Blue! We were there for our 37th Anniversary and Chris, Tyler and the entire team pulled out all the stops for us! First, you go there for the delicious food and then you add the BEST service team and the result is a great evening!! Thanks again B&B!!

Wow great service and amazing food . The bar is a great speakeasy before having dinner . The 3 course pre set meal is a fantastic option . I ordered the pork chops and was told it was imported from Spain. It did not disappoint. It was a great evening ! Staff was amazing. Thank you Mel for all your attention .

My wife and I have been coming here for years, and they never disappoint. Star our server is shining example of consistent perfection, she always makes us feel at home. Chris the manager is amazing he never forgets us and I watch him work the room to make sure all his guests are happy. I highly recommend Black n Blue the hidden gem in Valley Center. View menu

I have dined at this restaurant several times before the renovation, but I must say that their chef has really perfected their dishes in a way that truly honors classic American steakhouse cuisine. The prime rib is incredible, large, and tender. Their desserts are outstanding, especially when they serve a traditional French soufflé that is picture-perfect. All of their side dishes are excellent, and their 12-ounce filet mignon is absolutely amazing.

The bread was excellent with a nice selection. The Sea Bass was the best I've ever had. My husband's pork chop was cooked perfectly and seasoned just right. The Burrata salad had too much dressing, causing it to become wilted. The service was very good, and our waiter even gave my husband a birthday card signed by everyone, which was a special touch. It was better than a dessert. Just a note, the Baked Alaska had an overwhelming amount of marshmallow meringue and ice cream.

We love this s hidden treasure. Celebrated our 21st Anniversary there yesterday and as we were recalling we have been going for at least 12 years! We love the food, the ambiance and the staff!! A few weeks ago there weren't reservations available so we went down the road to Hell's Kitchen. Black Blue is far superior food and atmosphere and much better prices. Only complaint is that it's 21 and over, our adult children appreciate good food and we find ourselves turning down opportunities to eat at Black and Blue for special occasions because they can't join us. 18 over please ?

Black and Blue has been our go to restaurant for date nights. My wife and I had dinner on a Tuesday evening. Our appetizer was the seafood platter. The crab and shrimp were excellent but the lobster was bland and rubbery. The caesar salad also was changed up and not nearly as good as the previous recipe. The Brandt filet was outstanding, seasoned and cooked to perfection. For desert our go to has been the creme brûlée. Unfortunately this recipe was changed from the classic in the past to one that was not good at all. We each just tried a bite and gave up. Not sure why these menu items changed but we really loved the previous recipes.

"Meh, what can I say? Met some friends for dinner at this place. Everyone agreed we would NOT be coming back. I ordered the ribeye, medium rare, big mistake... that 's on me. I should have known better. It 's a bbq joint, not a steakhouse. The salad came out, just a bowl of chopped iceberg with a small container of dressing, nothing else. Then the steak came, it was HORRIBLE. What I got was one of the stringiest slab of leftover meat that I 've had in decades. No This was not even a ribeye cut. Walmart would have been ashamed to sell this in their discounted section. I ordered it medium rare, but it was cooked medium to medium-well (barely any pink). I 've had better steaks at rundown roadside diners. Hell, I 've had better steaks at IHOP for half the price. When I called the waitress over and showed her the steak and how overdone it was, she started arguing with me that she saw some pink. It made no difference to her when I pointed out that pink does not make a steak medium rare. She said she would take the steak to the bartender and see what she had to say. Shortly after another woman came back with my plate in hand and stated she sees red in the steak but that if I wanted, she would call the owner to see if he was willing to replace it. Gotta say, I was totally thrown off. I told her don 't worry about it, it 's not worth the hassle. She said she 'd buy me my next drink (house red), I just thanked her. We just wanted out at that point. We finished up and left. Don 't bother with this place, there 's too many other much better options out there."

"The food was good and everything but it was expensive food for something that was underwhelming.. and then the cashier happened to be stuck up and rolling his eyes at me and used a strange tone while saying a Pina colada ok when I ordered a Pina colada and got even worse when 3 guys, I 'm assuming the oldest guy was the owner? But he has a young teen with him and another older man with him. My brother and I were enjoying our food Wich is paid ahead of time. And noticed the owner and his two ppl were talking and laughing oddly and aggressively loud to display something? then we noticed the owner locked the door so when we tried to leave he asked if we paid our dues Wich was weird because to get the food you need to pay ahead of time.. and then he walks right up to us asking again and as we 're unlocked the door we te him yes and then he tries talking to us afterwards using a condescending tone and phrases when we were leaving. On my way out the young teen gave me a snarly face Wich I don 't know why? We are two totally regular guys not trouble starters and we don 't look like trouble starters. Very weird overall experience. In summary the food is ok but it 's overpriced. The service is just rude without any reason at all. The owner is also a weirdo. And I would definitely not recommend eating here. I 'm also a security guard so I 'm not one to exaggerate my Enterpretations of expressions tones and action"
