"Cafe des Architectes was simply not what I thought it would be. However, that does not mean it was lackluster. On the contrary, it was tasty but neither me or my lunch date were WOWed by the lunch menu. When we arrived for a 12:30PM reservation on a Wednesday afternoon, the dining room was completely empty. Shortly after seating, it was half booked. The space itself is absolutely stunning. It is very modern and bright and open. The flatware was of quality design and so were the linens. The details put into the aesthetics no doubt mirror the type of modernity you find in the hotel. The service here was good. Almost too good. The waitstaff approached us too many times during the meal to refill water or inquire as to how everything was or if we wanted more bread. The chicken sandwich was delicious and so were the fries. My enjoyed his pork belly sandwich, but did feel as if it was overcooked. Pork belly tends to be very juicy (due to the fact) but he mentioned it was a tough a just a bit dry.I won't be running back to CdA but if I do come back, it will be for dinner."

Great place for Mediterranean food in Chicago! The food was exquisite and service was great! The octopus was cooked to perfection and so was the chicken dish!

Great place for breakfast. I ordered the 3 egg omelet and it was great. Good price, good portion, fast service, very nice hotel. Would definitely eat here again. View menu

Hard to find a good restaurant open for breakfast on the Gold Coast. Fresh OJ, great French pressed coffee. Had salmon and bagel- very good. Service was very good.

They are super understaffed. Service was terrible. Took us over an hour to get our food, and we were one of only seven tables. The food was good at least. Appetizer was a super small portion, paella was an adequate size. Overall there are much better places in Chicago to spend that kind of money View menu

The Sofitel hotel’s restaurant Café des Architectes has been replaced by a new restaurant, CDA. There is no comparison, the food was terrible. My roasted potatoes were greasy and tasted like they were cooked with old oil. My caprese omelet was flavorless. At least the décor is the same and the service was excellent. If you do go there, just order coffee and enjoy the surroundings. There are many other breakfast options within a few blocks.

I was in for a breakfast meeting. I certainly wasn't wowed by anything here. The oatmeal, scrambled eggs, fruit, poached eggs served to the three of us were adequate. I definitely wouldn't go out of my way to come here for breakfast in the future. Service was prompt. Here's the thing: when I arrived and said we were having a breakfast meeting the host initially put me in between two loud tables at a square to with three chairs when there were clearly other options available. Of course I requested to be moved but when you make a reservation and go out of your way to inform you would expect that there was more anticipation.

"Tempesta is arguably one of the best sandwich shops in the city. They make a lot of their meats in house and use high quality ingredients so you know you’re getting the good stuff. Not only can you get a great sandwich, you can purchase most of their meats to go as well as other small artisanal grocery items. I have tried almost every sandwich they have on the menu but my top two choices would be the #1 The Dante and the #2 Yo! Vincenzo! The Dante is their version of a classic Italian sandwich but a bit on the spicier side. The Yo Vincenzo is a chicken parm and I personally think it’s the best chicken parm sandwich in the city. The chicken is perfectly crispy, and they use just the right amount of sauce where it doesn’t get soggy. Both of these sandwiches come on their fresh baguette which helps set them apart from other sandwich spots in Chicago just because of how good it is. The B Franklin is also a great option, and if you’re starving get the Wagyu Pastrami but be warned it is a very heavy sandwich because of that Wagyu. The last pro tip I’ll add in here is order your sandwich ahead of time if you’re doing takeout. This is a very popular spot and is always busy during the lunch rush so if you wait to order until you arrive you may need to wait for 10-15 minutes. That should speak to how good this place is because it’s in such high demand, so if you’re in Chicago make sure you stop in!"
