"I generally don't write bad reviews, I was very unsatisfied with the food today, my daughter wanted to eat gobi Manchurian, I was skeptical to order here, just gave it a chance but was more than disappointed, it was over powered with ketchup and veryspicy it was 9.99$ put to trash ????, I just requested if he can cancel the samosa order and replace with bhel Puri, even thatwas not honored he said samosas were already done... Oh Really! was it freshly made for us the taste did not say so ???? and themost surprising was we had to put the sugar for tea before it was served, he made us put the sugar in a Togo cup and then gotthe ?...we never had this experience in any of the bay area restaurants.. a big no"

We got bhel and dabeli, the portions are very tiny for the price you pay $9 for one small dabeli portion come on . Also, the food wasn't very flavorful.

We ordered Bhel and Dabeli, but the portion sizes were quite small considering the price—$9 for a small serving of Dabeli feels excessive. Additionally, the food did not have much flavor. View menu

We stopped by for quick chaat dahi Puri sevi Puri and Pani Puri. At first it looks like a place that has origins in Gujarat and by the menu, food and the way the dishes were served we had a stronger feeling. The sev Puri dahi Puri was great. The paani puri paani didn't have the right flavors. It was more like jal jeera. But overall a good place and worth trying it out.

I also wondered if we could cancel our Samosa order and substitute it with Bhel Puri instead. Was it made fresh for us? The taste certainly didn’t seem like it. To add to our surprise, we were asked to add sugar to our tea before it was served! They handed us a sugar pack in a to-go cup, which was quite bizarre. We’ve never had this experience at any restaurant in the Bay Area.

I am giving it 5 stars for its ambience and service. The food was pretty good too. Paani Poori came with 4 types of toppings and 2 types of chutney which was very exciting. Chaat Basket was a unique treat; puris shaped like small bowls and filled with yummy toppings. Idli Manchurian was alright and tasted as a Manchurian should. If you are a big fan of Idli then do try it. The prices are average too considering it?s in Mountain View. View menu

Went there twice. On our very first visit, we ordered samosas and a thali. Samosas were crisp and the filling was flavourful. The chutneys were good as well. The thali was enough to fill the tummy and tasted like home cooked food. We ordered two rotis extra, they were soft but too dusty. On our second visit we ordered dahi vada and chaat basket. None of them could please our taste buds so we left them there after two three bites. On billing, the owner refused to accept money as we didnot like and eat what we ordered.

This was my first order from this restaurant, and I also appreciated my previous experience. I ordered Aloo Tikki with Channa Chaat, but instead received Ravaa Vada with Chole. I also ordered Makki di Roti, but it was the toughest one I have ever had. However, the Kashmiri Dum Aloo was exceptional—truly on a different level, and I struggle to find words to describe it. I don’t usually write restaurant reviews, but I felt compelled to share my thoughts this time. I hope they take this feedback to heart and work on improving the quality and taste of their food.

"Date Night ASA Restaurant has two locations in the Bay Area and their Los Gatos location earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand recognition This was my first dining experience at their more north location in downtown Los Altos With high ceilings and heart themed adorned menus, this was a perfect spot for a Valentine’s week dining experience The menu here is slightly different from the Los Gatos location and I’ve heard that the two locations may not be as closely affiliated when they first opened I loved the appetizers and particular loved the anchovy bread with two different anchovy types topped on crisp, warm bread. The Dungeness crab appetizer was also excellent For entrees, I opted for ASA’s signature exotic mushroom pasta that is on both the Los Gatos and Los Altos menu As a fungi fan, I absolutely love this dish and it’s one of the best pasta dishes in the South Bay and Peninsula The only miss was their special of the day of striped bass over risotto. The purple yam purée was sour and the risotto dry with zero moisture or liquid and more like a cooked rice dish than a risotto ASA is a fantastic destination for the Bay Area and while the prices are elevated, they reflect elevated cuisine (and high ceilings) Smoked and Stoned $16 Anchovy Bread $16 Dungeness Crab Toast $36 Special Striped Bass over Risotto ASA’s Exotic Mushroom Pasta $34 ASA Restaurant (Los Altos, CA) Reservations are recommended on Opentable and dining is indoor only. Credit cards including AmEx are accepted."

"The experience here from start to finish was pretty odd, and the service was bad. Menus weren't brought to us for a long time, they apologized when they eventually gave the menus to us. The restaurant was nearly empty aside from one other table, but everything was slow. We weren't checked in on at all during the meal. When we ordered, the waitress was very confused and unfamiliar with the menu. I assumed she was new, but then we received the same confusing service from all staff. We were randomly brought French fries that we didn't order, and then that kept happening with various other menu items The veggies in all the dishes were cold and tasted watery, unseasoned, and like they had been frozen. Scallion pancakes had no scallions in them at all. Basil eggplant dish had no basil at all. Smoothie wasn't blended properly: all ice at the bottom, and only a super sweet watery liquid would come through the straw. It tasted like the same overly-processed sauce was on every dish, nothing felt fresh. The kimchi rice was a good menu item, but it didn't really taste like kimchi. Just seasoned rice. Appetizer and drinks were brought out after we finished everything. A staff member tried to argue with us when we wanted to send something back. When we paid and thanked them, they didn't say a word to us or even look in our direction, and didn't give us a customer copy of the receipt."
