"This place is AWFUL. I had hoped to avoid posting this on Yelp so i emailed the Copperfield Inn, where Trapper's is located. I called the Copperfield Inn and three times and left messages asking for a call back. Nobody ever answered so I left a message. No response. If zero stars was an option I would give it. I paste below my letter to the restaurant: I just want to write a short note about my family's experience at Tapper's Tavern last Friday night, January 19. I'm not going to write a negative review on Yelp because that won't accomplish much, other than relieve my anger, and I would love for your restaurant to succeed, because North Creek needs more successful dining establishments. But I do want you to hear the feedback. In two words, awful food. Awful. The service was fine. The beer was great. And the décor/atmosphere is very warm and welcoming. It is a shame that with all that positive that the food, experienced by all seven people in my party, was either close to or actually not edible. I did fill out the comment card, and chatted briefly with the waitress onsite regarding the food. My daughters turkey club was untouched...she could not eat it. It was vile. My son had a hamburger that was definitely off, also not touched. And these are not picky eaters. I had a burger too and it tasted strange, I was hungry thoughso able to eat it, but there was nothing good about it or flavorful in the least. My stepson had clam chowder...which he always orders at restaurants left, you guessed it, untouched. These were simple things to prepare good thing we did not order the duck. I am not sure how a restaurant could possibly accomplish serving such consistently awful fare, but you did. And I think the fact that your restaurant was basically empty while Bar Vino just steps away says a lot. I hope you can turn it around, because people will not go back if they come or even go in the first place based on word of mouth. I have had bad restaurant meals before, for certain, but never have I been out with a group where the food was consistently poor among all diners. I really feel like the nearly $200 I spent was robbery. Total and complete waste of money. Zero value. Not a good evening/start to our ski weekend. We will be back to North Creek, but not back to Trapper's Tavern."

Closed summer 2019. We tried to go here in July 2019 but was told there had been no chef for 3 months.

Was very impressed with this place. Cozy atmosphere and a very eclectic assortment of entrees and appetizers. I like it better for dinner, but they do have great burgers.

Great food and wine. Could use a host or another server to keep an eye on the front of house. We were seated for several minutes before we were noticed, the server was very apologetic and provided excellent service once we got started. Another lady gave up and moved to the bar to get service. The restaurant is now under new management, and as a local, I’m excited to see what the new chef will bring. While the menu is somewhat limited, my chat with the new general manager, Natasha, has me feeling optimistic about the future of Trappers. I tried the Buffalo wings and chicken Marsala, and both were fantastic.

Wow. What a horrendous take out experience. After completely screwing up half our order (including dumping four portions of mushy spaghetti into take out containers unsauced and forgetting sides x 3) the manager argued nastily with me when I explained that waiting another 45 minutes to feed hungry kids was not going to work and asked for a partial refund for the missing items. She called me names, insulted me and my children. I don't think I've ever had quite so terrible an experience at a restaurant! The food that did arrive per the order was pretty gross. You can do better with other local tavern-type restaurants!

My dining companion chose the French dip, which turned out to be quite delicious with tender beef. He also had sweet potato fries on the side, which were decent; however, I personally prefer them with a cinnamon dip instead of ketchup. We decided to order another round of drinks, and the bill started to add up quickly. The service was enjoyable; our waitress was friendly and attentive, which made it easy for us to relax at our table. The decor was charming enough that we almost forgot we were in a Victorian hotel just on the other side of the wall. It's worth mentioning that the restaurant was closed on Sundays and Mondays, which caught us by surprise since we were staying at the hotel. It... View menu

My partner and I first visited the restaurant on Christmas Eve and really enjoyed the atmosphere, including the iconic moose head and cozy seating. The somewhat loud chatter from what seemed to be regulars at the bar added a bit of amusement to the experience, although some might not share that sentiment. The place wasn't very busy, and the service was attentive. Our dinners were excellent. My partner ordered a half rack of lamb served with carrots and a baked potato, while I had the Chicken Francaise. Both dishes were cooked and seasoned perfectly, and the portion sizes were just right—not too big or too small. Even the coffee was delightful. The only downside was the crème brûlée, whic...

My friend and I took the Saratoga-North Creek Railroad on a whim, and had a wonderful adventure. The ride was really special (we were in the upper dome area), enjoyed breakfast onboard, going along the Hudson River for most of the trip. I had wanted to try barVino following an excellent write-up in the Times Union awhile back (I love tapas), but they are not open for lunch (sadly), so I made lunch reservations at Trapper 's for our arrival in North Creek. Trappers is the casual dining restaurant of the Copperfield Inn, a lovely Adirondack-inspired tavern (as appropriate) with a welcoming fireplace and 'rustic ' warm atmosphere appointed with, well, moose heads, antler lights, etc. . The tave...

"To elaborate, the location might seem deceptively unremarkable, situated just north of Thrasher's Corner amidst a cluster of strip malls that stretch for several blocks on all sides, with a similar scene repeating a mile north, where shopping abounds. However, once inside, you're welcomed into a clean, serene atmosphere that feels inviting and immaculate. The hostess on the day of my visit was both friendly and efficient, multitasking as a busser and server during the transition from lunch to dinner. I was promptly seated. The flooring is polished concrete, which can be a bit slippery when wet but is aesthetically pleasing and impeccably maintained. The dark wood walls and furniture, complemented by black curtains that divide different areas, not only enhance privacy but also help to absorb sound, creating a relaxed vibe. The menu features several cooked dishes, such as teriyaki and roasted or grilled finfish, along with many appealing options for children. While the drink menu emphasizes beer and wine, the sake I chose was delightful. They serve it in a small decanter with space for ice cubes, allowing it to chill without diluting—an innovative touch that’s both practical and charming, resembling a delicate piece of art. For my appetizer, I ordered the seaweed salad, which was beautifully plated with extra lettuce for an added visual appeal. This simple dish transformed into something fancy with just a few thoughtful touches. Next up was the miso soup, which had a slightly tart flavor, likely due to the wide-leaf seaweed included. I thoroughly enjoyed every drop. For the main, I opted for the 12-piece sashimi, which was perfectly timed to arrive after I finished my soup and salad. It was exquisitely presented, adorned with cucumbers, shredded daikon, and tiny cucumber cups filled with ginger and wasabi, alongside decorative vegetable elements. The visual appeal was nothing short of spectacular, and the fish was wonderfully soft and buttery. Next time, I might request to skip the superwhite, as it’s a personal preference of mine at sushi places, but it was quite tasty this time and certainly a favorite for many. Overall, I wouldn’t change a thing about this restaurant—except perhaps to wish that it were closer to my home."
