"We stayed in a cottage just a mile away from this restaurant and, being fans of the Doc Ford books, we were curious to check it out. The food was fantastic, and we ended up dining there three times during our week-long stay. We visit Fort Myers/Sanibel a couple of times each year and plan to return every trip for the shrimp and cocktails."

"I had a terrible experience at the bar. I ordered the pork chop, which was overcooked and tough despite being recommended. When I mentioned this to the bartender, she still charged us full price. Later, the head bartender approached us and said they would have comped the meal, but by then, it was too late. They didn't offer any resolution or acknowledgment after we paid, which made things even more uncomfortable. This was especially disappointing since it was our anniversary, and they had recognized that but chose not to do anything. I really dislike giving negative reviews, but this felt like a slap in the face. I'm still waiting for my refund."

"I almost hate to rate this James Beard recognized cafe as a 1 star. We went with another couple who love their fish stew, a clientele favorite. We were dinning at 5:30 and feel that both my wife's stew and my oysters were under cooked and over spicy. My wife had the octopus small plate appetizer. Tasted a bit like lobster, but it had a sauce that was like a strong BBQ sauce that over powered the octopus. My oysters were a bit gelatinous inside, under cooked. The mole sauce was way over powering and to be avoided. The seared top was heavily dusted with a very salty seasoning, I had to scrape it off or just tast salt. My cubed vegetables were also undercooked and without taste. My wife's stew was also undercooked, with raw garlic and other vegetables. Sorry, Melissa, likely won't be back."

"We dined there on Saturday, August 26th, 2023. Our waitress was incredibly sweet and knowledgeable, which was a highlight of our visit. However, the food was just average—acceptable but nothing special. The biggest issue was the heat in the dining room. All four of us at the table felt uncomfortably warm and were even sweating, which made it hard to enjoy our meal. The manager explained that the air conditioning was working fine but attributed the discomfort to a full house and the frequent opening and closing of the front doors. However, the entrance was quite far from our area, separated by walls, and the bar and nearby dining areas felt perfectly comfortable. It seemed to us that management was trying to deflect responsibility rather than addressing the issue. I would suggest they change their name to the Hothouse Café. Unfortunately, I won’t be returning."

"-Gotta say, I been trying to get a table here for years.. true story. I tried almost all of the restaurants on this island, and everytime I wanted this place, it happed to be closed. Then one day, it just worked out. -The restaurant itself was huge (parking lot, building, tons of tables). Inside was nicely designed, looked awesome. Bathroom was super clean, so far was impressed. -Waitress was super nice, kept this great vibe going so far. -Then the food came. Maybe it was the fact that this place has finally been checked off our list, on top of already having a good day (so many outside influences could effect a meal), but I wasn't the only one that said this was one of the best meals I've ever eaten. It was ridiculously good, and I wasn't the only one that felt this way. I ate my meal, I tried some of another, both were worthy of a last meal. -This was long winded, but I just had to let someone know to stop in this place if they're hungry and on this island. -The waitress said the chef was named Mike, worked there for many years. -Well he was a wizard in that kitchen... Magic Mike..."

"Fantastic restaurant! The staff was friendly, the venue had stylish decor, and everything was spotless. They have an impressive drink menu, and even brew their own beer. Despite being extremely busy, we found parking and were seated indoors within 30 minutes. Our food arrived promptly and was absolutely delicious. For appetizers, we ordered the mussels and clam chowder, and our little one especially enjoyed the chowder. For the main course, we chose two different grouper dishes, which were outstanding—the grouper was thick and cooked to perfection. Even the fish sticks for our child were tasty. For dessert, we had the carrot cake and chocolate mousse, and I must say, the carrot cake is among the best I’ve ever tasted. Overall, we highly recommend this restaurant!"
