"I took a friend to Maxwell's Tavern to celebrate his birthday. We went on a Wednesday night, and the place was crowded, which is a good sign. This is a cool tavern in downtown Waxhaw. They have a nice selection of craft beers on tap, and I had a Great Lake Oktoberfest. We both ordered the Maxwell's Tavern burger with fries, and it was so good. Maxwell's Tavern is a great place to have good beer and delicious food. I look forward to coming back soon. Kid-friendliness: Many people bring their kids to eat here. "We went today for lunch just found it by chance. Highly recommend food was fabulous and service was even better. Thank you Meghan for renewing our faith in eating out, great service does still exist. We got the bread and butter appetizer fresh soda bread with 3 types of butter, yum. My husband got the buffalo wrap and I got the shepherds pie nachos both were great and large portions. Meghan was kind enough to bring my husband a rasher of bacon, simply because she heard us talking about how much we love European bacon. We will be back."

"Emmets is a unique experience and wonderful treat! Their small plates come out immediately as ordered and are great for sharing amongst small groups. For larger groups plan to order multiples to share around the table. Incredibly unique dishes and well prepared plates the food is delicious and a fun experience in and of itself. We particularly enjoyed the wings, nachos, and tritip.Service was amazing. We originally were seated in a side room and it was unbearably loud. When we asked to move the waitress obliged and kindly made adjustments for us.The overall environment is electric and intimate making for a delightful evening of great food, drinks, and conversations.Highly recommended, please see some plates we enjoyed in the photos"

"I had initially called and spoke with a very nice young lady regarding my husband, two young sons and my mother coming for breakfast. It was my moms birthday and she had a rough couple of days and we wanted to take her for a nice breakfast. Unfortunately, reservations are not available, so she recommended giving a call right before coming in. I had asked if I could bring candles to put in a desert breakfast, and the young lady told me they could provide candles and was very accommodating. When I called back, a gentleman answered the phone and was extremely short with and rude to me. He stated that he did not know if they even had candles and couldn’t get off the phone fast enough. I figured I was speaking to a new employee with little knowledge and asked if it would be easier to ask the manager. The gentleman replied, stating he was the owner! I was shocked. I am so grateful we took our business elsewhere, where we received great service and were able to give my mom a wonderful birthday breakfast with her grandsons! I would definitely recommend NOT going here."
