"We just returned from our trip to Kauai where we stayed at the Sheraton Poipu. We loved Lavas. The on-site restaurant at the beach and by the pool. It is an open air, cozy restaurant with fabulous servers. Every single server we had for our 10 days there was so kind accommodating, and friendly. We usually ate breakfast here because they had wonderful breakfast selections. You could get loco moco , a Classic breakfast, vegetarian omelettes, breakfast sandwiches , and oatmeal just to name a few selections. And everything was delicious! No one had a single bad thing the whole time we were there. We ate lunch here where we had burgers and the coconut shrimp. We had dinners here because you have to have reservations everywhere you go and there were three nights that we didn’t have them so we walked in put our name on the list and waited maybe 10 minutes at most. The dinner entrees were varied with something for everyone vegetarian, gluten free etc. And their cocktails were good as well. Our favorite was the Lava Flow. We made many good acquaintances here and miss them now that we are at home. The menus online do not reflect the varied menu they now have. I wish I had thought to take a picture. If you are staying at the Sheraton make sure you give them a try. Some of the older reviews here do not reflect the new menu and the added Covid precautions this restaurant practices. We give them an Ono!"

It's basically on the beach and poolside (one side you overlook the pool and out to the ocean, the other side you see right out to the ocean). We were there for lunch. Ordered the Coconut Shrimp, Mahi Sandy, and Kalua Pork sandy...all were really good.

The breakfast was tasty. The bento box included pineapple, muesli flakes, granola, and yogurt. The 2 egg breakfast came with 3 pieces of bacon, Portuguese sausage, pineapple, and home-style potatoes. The service was excellent, and the waiter was very friendly.

I had a wonderful dining experience at this restaurant. The food was delicious and they had great vegan options. The service was friendly and I enjoyed the beautiful sea view. I tried the vegan No Moco Loco and the Continental with yogurt. Overall, I highly recommend this place. View menu

Very limited vegetarian options. We had the fries, onion rings and hummus with cauliflower naan. These three things were really good! Fast service. Not everything on their online menu is available in the restaurant. The restaurant is based right near the ocean and the swimming pool so it is rather loud.

The atmosphere was nice right on the beach and pool. The menu is small, but the fried chicken was delish and the sauce with the pot stickers was so good we asked for a refill on it! The bar had TVs so we were able to watch the Monday Night Football game while enjoying our drinks and dinner. Would highly recommend the ahi musubi!

Update: Since we've been coming here few times a day for several days I feel I must revise my initial feedback. 1 ALWAYS smell your food! For us 3 times in a row salsa on omlette was spoiled (had a very distinctive sour smell and chef said it supposed to stink ; we also got glass of spoiled milk for our toddler. The waiter was smart enough not to argue it was good. 2 ALWAYS check your bill for added items. Yes we had that too. Original: Nice place, right next to the pool. The best coconut shrimp I’ve ever had from anywhere. We went back 4 times for just the coconut shrimp! Unfortunately it’s only on their Dinner menu and they wont make exceptions for lunch. We also really loved their Uncles Burger on the dinner menu. The Flavor of their sauce is insane. The second time we went back for it they definitely went lighter on the sauce and it wasn’t as “wow” so maybe just ask for more if that happens! But im serious, the coconut shrimp has so much actual coconut flavor, cooked to perfection, and the sauce is BOMB. I will forever dream of it.

Very cool spot right on the water, next to a very active pool, and just within the Sheraton Resort. Fantastic location, no reservations needed, we sat right down for lunch, and service was spot on, and also very friendly. The playoffs were on the TV's and the bar was full, and loud...even explosive at times. We sat outside, close to the water and we had an outstanding view.
