"I've now made six or seven visits and can say that the experience is usually rewarding, but the patron should expect to flex as necessary. In short, if you're expecting flawlessly attentive service or a quick dining experience, you'll reach some level of disappointment. I certainly wouldn't walk in with a couple of hungry children and expect to eat within minutes. Visits will require a bit more time and deliberation. Having first attended to catch the live music in the intimate upstairs bar area, I've only eaten in the main dining room on one occasion. Service can be a problem when busy, but hungry patrons can simply grab a table in the bar and send one of the party downstairs to the walk up counter for pizza or focaccia slices. These are available all day and though precooked I find them to reheat nicely. The same goes for the bar someone eventually reached our table and the bartender was happy keep our tab in the meantime. To be specific about the food, a slice of vegetable topped pizza $3 with a glass of the Polka Dot Riesling $4.75 is a real refresher. The Martini's Acorn Squash $11.75 was a revelation in that I usually have to order Indian to enjoy a meatless dish at that level of flavor, texture and quality. The Vegetarian Lasagna $10.95 was very good as well. My companions have ordered and enjoyed the Italian Beef sandwich $7.50 and so loaded it could easily serve two and the Italian Farcitta with artichoke $9.75, also available with sausage filling. To sum up: I began attending once per week for the music, but I will keep returning for the menu long after the band moves on."

I've been eating at Martini's for years. The food is wonderful. The service is better, since the mercurial owner has stepped back a bit.

Food is very good but the wait staff is pathetically rude and just plain bad. Bartenders with the attention span of Knats. The only restaurant that I have walked out of in the middle of a meal. Don't bother there are better places to eat in Kalamazoo that are a lot less aggravating. Pass this place up!!!!!! View menu

Martinis is a great place to really plan on spending an evening. The relatively new bar upstairs is a little nook in k-zoo that I dont think a lot of people realize is a really good place to get to know the atmosphere of Kalamazoo. They have live music on occasion and when they do it is top notch. If you want to have a good time with great service and food and music to remember go to Martinis.

Always Good. A friendly place with a refreshing feel. There is always something new going on and it is GREAT to see owners actually working and participating in the everyday ho-hum chores of running a business of this type. I respect any owner of any business that gets things done, even if they are doing the less than desirable chores that all businesses need themselves. A fun change from the typical cookie cutter types that are oh too plentiful . You will not be disappointed.

I asked a simple question (to whom I found out was the owner) and re-asked the same question because I had a different answer from the manager and the owner unleashed on me w/fk this Fk that. Not holding back anything in front of his staff and his dinner patrons. I was not out of line with my question. This location has many concerns of poor service and rude staff. Martini 's is not prepared to serve more than two or four people at time. The wait staff is rude and somehow thinks that an hour and half to seat 7 people is justified. Be ready to wait when you dine in. The food is good, but somehow they just don 't have there act together when it comes to SERVICE simple. When questioned about the standard gratuity added to my bill the waitress (I 'm being polite here) jumped back at me stating I 've been unreasonable since my arrival. If sitting around for almost two hours before your order is placed is your idea of having dinner get right down there and have a few drinks and take in the scenester backdrop they call a restaurant.

I received the WORST service of my life here the other day...is too bad the food is so good, because I will never be coming back. We informed the server while ordering that we were in a hurry, so we could get our checks with the food. When we got the food she said the only way that we could cash out then is if we paid all together. But we were all paying with cards...so then she gave us the hand written notecard, and told us that the only way that we could pay separately is if we figured it out ourselves. So then we asked for management, and he didn't offer to do anything or make the situation better. They took our cards and rang us up with a 20% gratuity included before we even saw our tota...
