"we loved eating in mirko pasta. we felt that the ambiente was a little strange; the place is small, but it looked like they had a different chain restaurant building than their own re-used so it didn't feel like a super authentic Italian place with respect to the dining room atmosphere, but that wasn't so much. that was amazing. everything tasted so delicious! we loved to create our own unique pasta dishes. they were full of taste and tasted so fresh. Even the brot we were served was something of the best sourded we had. they also had a nice selection of weeps to combine with our meals. our waiter was friendly and gave great service. I felt that their meals have rivaled some of the fancier Italian restaurants that we have been in the city. this place is our new place 1 for italiano. we will definitely come back!"

Most of their pastas contain egg, but the gnocchi is great! You can choose either the traditional pomodoro or the arrabiata (spicy) and add a selection of vegetables. The minestrone is to die for!! The appetizer bread is also vegan.

The atmosphere is very pleasant and intimate. The acoustics are a plus. You can carry on a conversation with others at your table in a normal voice and not be interrupted by loud music or other patrons in the restaurant. The food, menu selections and service are exceptional. I look forward to returning.

This was a fun place to have fancy pasta. But since the sauce options are limited to pretty much marinara sauce, I feel like you could just make the same pasta at home. However there are some delicious vegan appetizers like the bruschetta. But the atmosphere is lovely and the servers are always really nice. When I go they never put cheese on it unless you ask. Would love to see them get some vegan cheese options! View menu

Dinner out with my parents and I chose Mirko. We all enjoyed the lasagne and the Caesar salad. Unfortunately the place was very loud so it was difficult to carry on a conversation. Also it really needs a renovation. The tables were rustic but the finish over the top was chipping off and the booth was falling apart. Just tacky. Server was very inattentive. I went without a water refill for probably 20-30 min. For such a small restaurant, that is unacceptable. The food would bring me back but not often.

I was very disappointed by mirko. in the last few years we have eaten three or four times. always enjoyed it. this was a special occasion that we celebrate our 50th anniversary this week. here is why we gave such a low rating: out entrées arrived before we finish our appetizers. my man ordered a calf that was almost raw. our server even said: “This is disgusting.” (not her fault) I ordered the Ravioli appetizer as a derée. while I like my pasta al dente, this pasta was well undercooked. out server was very nice and I guess the management decided to give us free dessert. we live in birmingham, and I doubt we'll come back to Ichko.
