"My husband and I are locals and we invited friends out for dinner last night. I have never been so embarrassed in my life. What happened to this place? You do realize you 1 job is to provide great customer service and make sure your guests enjoy their experience, right? We had 5:15 reservations so we happened to all arrive separately. None of us had a great experience with the hostesses. That is your first impression. The red hair girl wearing a crop top after walking up while I was standing there never acknowledging me for over 5 minutes. No hi I will be right with you nothing. Obviously avoiding eye contact. Another girl came back after helping someone else decided to acknowledge me and the girl with red hair let me know she wasn't ignoring me...uh ok. Like I said we had resvations but yet when my husband decided he wanted a seat outside he was told he would have to wait and then a walk in couple came in and was sat immediately. After he was finally sat he tried to tilt the umbrella, he didn't want the sun blazing in his eyes but the waitress was quick to scold him. She told him she walked in to it last week and poked her eye he could not have any shade on a 75 degree day. When the table next to us tilted their umbrella she didn't make a comment to them. My Morel pasta was blan and only tastes like raw asparagus. As a vegetarian I love vegetables, it was terrible I didn't even finish it. The Pesto pasta my friend had was delicious. My husband liked his food and I think our friends liked theirs. Our waitress brought over the desert menu prematurity and then didn't ask of we were ready for the bill, just brought it over apparently she was ready for us to go. You have a prime location on the water people want to eat here treat them with more respect. We wanted to spend our money here you don't have the best food in La Conner. Just be nice. We left a tip but remember they are earn not mandatory. I worked in this industry so I know first hand you have good days bad days. If you don't like it anymore do what I did and do something about it make a change don't take it out on your customers."

We have dinner at Nell Thorn every year during our summer boat trip. The food is always excellent, and that trend continued in the summer of 2024. The setting on the Swinomish Canal is pretty, and if the weather is good take advantage of the outdoor seating. View menu

This is how food should be prepared. Everything made in house! Nearly everything locally sourced. These guys know what and where every one ingredient goes into each meal. Stellar performance. Dietary restrictions: Each server verifies allergies and dietary restrictions

This was my first time dining here, and everything was fantastic. The steak was cooked to perfection, and the halibut was equally impeccable. We will certainly be returning to sample more of the menu. And I can't forget to mention the ice cream—it was absolutely delicious!

Noisy though service was good and host was quick to accommodate a last minute reservation. Crab spaghetti was tasty though a couple pieces of shell. The strawberry salad was excellent! The creme brulee needs improvement. It's so much better if the custard is creamier and warm. View menu

Had an amazing dinner at Thorn Thistle. It’s a little on the spendy side but having a delicious meal…oysters, duck,’ halibut, and house made pasta/risotto/bread was a real treat. The strawberry rhubarb sorbet was delicious (and so PNW) on a hot day and the raspberry cheesecake…yummmm!

Restaurant Review: Nell Thorn My recent visit to Nell Thorn was a mixed experience. The atmosphere is undeniably charming and welcoming, with the restaurant boasting a prime location right on the water. The serene views and the gentle sound of waves add a touch of tranquility, making it an ideal spot for a special occasion. The food was quite good, living up to our expectations. Every dish was cooked to order, and the presentation was exceptionally nice, showcasing the chef's attention to detail and culinary skill. However, the service left much to be desired. While the basics were covered, the added personality and enthusiasm that can elevate a dining experience were sorely lacking. Our wai...

"We were in La Conner for a long weekend and checked out COA for some Mexican food and tequila. The atmosphere is great and the vibe really adds to the delicious food and drinks. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful about the area, the foodand drinks were good enough that we came back a second time over the weekend just to have some more! Outdoor patio is AWESOMElots of tables with ???? We had: Molcajete- which I highly recommend especially for a couple to share, the meat was deliciousand juicy and the variety and quantity is plenty for two people, was also served with rice, beans and veggies. Ceviche -definitely grab some of this, a perfect appetizer and or snack to go with the variety of drinks. Chile relleno- great flavor, breading was light. I really enjoy the way they serve up beans and rice, beans are especially tasty, don?t get me wrong I haveno issue with refried beans but the whole beans are especially good. Enchiladas- the ability to mix and match meats was cooland allowed for some variety without having to order multiple dishes, the green sauce on them was especially delicious. Drinks-we had a BUNCH! I love tequila bars and when combined with a great taqueria you know it?s on! Jalapeño margarita was large andtasty, Paloma was a hit, strawberry margarita and Michelada all hit the spot. Almost all drinks had a Chile/tajin rim which Idefinitely prefer over salt, and the tequila options are plentiful especially with regards to Anejo and reposado! I willdefinitely be going back anytime I?m staying up north, plus this place was walking distance to downtown and our hotel so noworries enjoying the tequila options! Thank you to the COA staff!"
