"We were visiting the area (Mon-Tues) and needed a place to eat supper. We thought we were walking into The Pickled Herring but I think that's a lounge connected to the Pier Plaza restaurant. We entered from Front Street, the patio side but the hostess stand is on Rittenhouse. The place was full but we were sat quickly. Our waiter greeted us but said it'd be a little bit before he took our order, which was fine because we had to look over the menu. When he returned, I ordered Sharon's Favorite sandwich with homemade potato chips and my sister got the Beef and Portobella and Swiss burger. My chicken sandwich was good. You can't go wrong with guacamole and bacon. The homemade potato chips were eh. No seasoning. Just tasted like burnt potato chips. My sister said the mushroom burger was good (but Wahlburgers mushroom burger was better). She ordered fries though. They were crisp and golden brown, not much potato though. The best part of the meal was the dill pickle spear! It was juicy, crisp and packed a punch! Not all pickles do that (Jimmy John's comes close) and I'd consider this one of my favorites. The menu had Lake Superior fun facts so that was interesting to read while we were waiting for our food to come. We were two of the younger people here. It made me wonder who everyone was. Were they locals or retired folks weekday vacationing like us? Lots of white hair beards."

I visited on Saturday, and this restaurant consistently delivers delicious and unique dishes. It's much more than just a burger place.

Me and my family went there after a cruise and we're hungry and it was busy at the beginning and waited awhile to be seated but it took nearly a hour after ordering to get our food and the food is not worth the money or the wait but our server/waitress was very nice

This is not my first visit here. It was busy tho at 3 in the afternoon. Really nice server, attentive staff. I had the protein bowl with veggie burger. My friends had the Cesar salad and the chicken breast sandwich. The waitress was very helpful and super nice. I'll be back in a couple months.

We had great service and food during our Wednesday lunch visit. We sat inside. Our server took great care of us. The sweet potato wedges are delicious. I had a chicken sandwich topped with guacamole, bacon, tomato. My friend had the steak salad. It was topped with a full size steak! The prices are reasonable. There is a bar to sit at. View menu

Our waitress was very friendly. We ordered the whitefish livers and onions (a recommendation from friends), a broiled whitefish sandwich, and a seafood chowder. The chowder was rich and creamy with plenty of potatoes, but I unfortunately found a few fish bones in it, which was a bit concerning. The whitefish livers were surprisingly good, especially since we don't often eat liver. The sandwich came with coleslaw, but it was just average. Overall, the experience was acceptable—not outstanding, but also not disappointing. One issue we encountered was that the prices listed on the menu didn't match what appeared on our check, and the waitress wasn't sure why that was the case.

With the fish fry, you get to select three sides from a list that includes baked potato, garlic mashed potatoes, fries, the vegetable of the day, salad, or coleslaw. We share a mix of salads, garlic mashed potatoes, coleslaw, and the vegetable of the day, and we loved everything! The first serving of fish, along with our sides, was quite generous and came with lemon wedges and tartar sauce. The fish's breading was unique and unlike anything I’ve ever tasted—it was light, crispy, and perfectly seasoned. It reminded me of the breading found on Culver’s chicken tenders. The only thing I felt was missing was a slice of rye bread! Overall, I highly recommend visiting this restaurant for their fi... View menu

My husband and I were recently in Bayfield, visiting the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore. Based on reviews, we decided to eat lunch at the Pier Plaza, and we 're so glad we did! The Pier Plaza restaurant is inside the Pier Plaza hotel, right on the water 's edge. It 's a lovely old building that 's been around since the 50s and has the perfect waterfront ambience. We were able to nab a table by the windows and could watch the traffic at the marina. Our server was Janine, who was friendly and helpful and genuinely happy to see us. My husband had the Cobb salad, and I had the smoked trout naan pizza, which was absolutely DELICIOUS! It was brown sugar-cured smoked Lake Superior trout with ca...

After walking by this place a few times, my wife said she would really like to eat outdoors. This place looked very inviting. We waited about 20 minutes for a table which wasn't bad. The seating outdoors was awesome, just as we hoped. The music was nice. This was Friday night so of course the special was the Fish Fry. I have to say up front that i'm not fond of fish. Fish is not in my Top 100 meals i would eat. I don't like fishy fish. I think whitefish is okay if breaded and drowned in ketchup. So after looking over the menu and passing up selections that i KNEW were good, I chose the fish. Shoot me now! I mean it looked good. So i ate the fish and it was pretty good. I tell you this backgr...

"This is probably one of the nicest hotels I have stayed at in Bayfield! For reference, I have stayed in a lot of hotels in the Bayfield area over the years, and I have to say this was the nicest one yet. It is a little expensive, but in my opinion it was worth it! We booked one of the jacuzzi rooms for a weekend (which of course is more expensive than a regular one) and I am so glad we did. The jacuzzi was so relaxing and the room itself was comfortable. The staff were super nice and accommodating. Although we didn’t need anything during our stay, I’m positive it would have been taken care of for us. The parking is spacious and you get “permits” for your stay so that it ensures all customers get parking. It is in such a convenient location because everything is within walking distance. We were deciding between this one and another location and I am glad we chose this hotel because of it being so convenient to stay in the parking lot and just walk where we needed to go without stressing over parking. The only downside is that there is no continental breakfast. They do have the restaurant attached which we had dinner at and it was delicious. Also, they have vending machines where you can purchase snack. However, for the price we paid, I will say the main con I had here was not being able to have anything included for breakfast, even if it was something simple or some discount for purchasing a room at their hotel. Thankfully there are quite a few options to choose from for breakfast (including the attached restaurant), and I know there aren’t a whole lot of other hotels in Bayfield that actually provide breakfast either. So unfortunately this is something that is hard to come by in general if you want to stay in Bayfield (unless you go to the bed and breakfasts or stay in Ashland). Overall I am glad we came. I had a lot of fun and I would love to come back soon!"
