"I really wanted to like this place. After reading all the positive reviews, we decided to give it a try. However, it was a big mistake. We arrived at 5:30pm and were told there would be an hour wait, which is understandable for a popular restaurant. However, the wait ended up being much longer. The reason for the delay was that they had given us a buzzer for our table, but they never wrote our name down. We only found out about this after waiting on their outdoor patio for an hour, buying drinks at the bar, and then checking with the hostess at 6:30pm, who informed us that they had lost our name completely. It was only after a kind customer outside our party mentioned to the hostess that we were waiting with drinks and a buzzer on the patio that they realized their mistake. They did not have a table ready for us in the dining area, so they offered us a drink at the bar. We assumed it would be comped due to the inconvenience, but we had to pay full price. After waiting another 15-20 minutes, we finally got a table. Despite the mix-up, the food was excellent. Just make sure to double-check that your name is on the list, even if you have their restaurant buzzer."

The restaurant is no longer the same as before and has lost all of its previously good quality. The service and location are both rated a 3.

We waited for an hour before we were seated. The seating was decent and the food was average. It was very crowded, but we understood that they were busy because other restaurants were closed. Overall rating: Rooms - 3, Service - 3, Location - 4.

The food at this restaurant is incredibly delicious and I found the prices to be very reasonable. The service was fantastic, especially Cindy who did a great job. Overall, everything was amazing and I will definitely be returning. The ambiance was also fantastic. View menu

We got dinner to go for 6 people, wanting to enjoy the outdoors and time in Bayfield. All of the dinners were excellent! The whitefish dinners, whitefish sandwich meals and greens were all well prepared, taste on point and thoughtfully packaged for 'to go '. Oh, and the cheese curds were some of the best we 've had! Highly recommend!

Took the Apostle Islands afternoon tour and made a reservation here for dinner afterwards. We chose this place based on the reviews. In a word disappointing. The vegetables were as overcooked as the fish. It was cafeteria like food. I had expected a good to great seafood restaurant. I would look to other places for good food. Nthe staff and physical restaurant were very nice, but the food was meh.

We arrived early for dinner and were seated immediately. We started with the smoked trout crostini in lemon sauce, which had a light smoky flavor and crispy bread. The tortellini with beef tips was flavorful, and the mushroom pasta was also tasty. For dessert, we enjoyed a large slice of carrot cake and a chocolate marquis with ice cream. The service staff were friendly and attentive. Overall, we had a great experience with a perfect score for both service and location. View menu

Not sure if I can blame the restaurant or yelp, but this restaurant was the first hit when I searched restaurants with the one criteria good for kids . The only way this restaurant is good for kids is if you have a precocious child with a sophisticated palate, not 3 young feral children from a sugar high and exhausted from being on vacation. The place was cozy and quaint and our meals and service were good, however would be best enjoyed with adult company. There were a variety of options on the menu, however no kids menu so I don 't feel is should contain the criteria good for kids .

We were a party of four who dined at this restaurant on a Friday night in mid-September, the weekend following Labor Day. Despite not having reservations, we were fortunate to be immediately seated. Those who arrived after us faced a wait of at least 30 minutes. The restaurant offers a variety of cocktails and craft beer, with a small but adequate wine list. I enjoyed a nice glass of Chianti. For appetizers, we ordered the roasted peppers, which were mild and delicious. My white fish chowder was also delicious. For my main course, I had the lake trout, which was equally delicious. The green beans were tasty, though the rice was a bit underwhelming. One of my friends ordered the wild mushroom...

"This is probably one of the nicest hotels I have stayed at in Bayfield! For reference, I have stayed in a lot of hotels in the Bayfield area over the years, and I have to say this was the nicest one yet. It is a little expensive, but in my opinion it was worth it! We booked one of the jacuzzi rooms for a weekend (which of course is more expensive than a regular one) and I am so glad we did. The jacuzzi was so relaxing and the room itself was comfortable. The staff were super nice and accommodating. Although we didn’t need anything during our stay, I’m positive it would have been taken care of for us. The parking is spacious and you get “permits” for your stay so that it ensures all customers get parking. It is in such a convenient location because everything is within walking distance. We were deciding between this one and another location and I am glad we chose this hotel because of it being so convenient to stay in the parking lot and just walk where we needed to go without stressing over parking. The only downside is that there is no continental breakfast. They do have the restaurant attached which we had dinner at and it was delicious. Also, they have vending machines where you can purchase snack. However, for the price we paid, I will say the main con I had here was not being able to have anything included for breakfast, even if it was something simple or some discount for purchasing a room at their hotel. Thankfully there are quite a few options to choose from for breakfast (including the attached restaurant), and I know there aren’t a whole lot of other hotels in Bayfield that actually provide breakfast either. So unfortunately this is something that is hard to come by in general if you want to stay in Bayfield (unless you go to the bed and breakfasts or stay in Ashland). Overall I am glad we came. I had a lot of fun and I would love to come back soon!"

"We were visiting the area (Mon-Tues) and needed a place to eat supper. We thought we were walking into The Pickled Herring but I think that's a lounge connected to the Pier Plaza restaurant. We entered from Front Street, the patio side but the hostess stand is on Rittenhouse. The place was full but we were sat quickly. Our waiter greeted us but said it'd be a little bit before he took our order, which was fine because we had to look over the menu. When he returned, I ordered Sharon's Favorite sandwich with homemade potato chips and my sister got the Beef and Portobella and Swiss burger. My chicken sandwich was good. You can't go wrong with guacamole and bacon. The homemade potato chips were eh. No seasoning. Just tasted like burnt potato chips. My sister said the mushroom burger was good (but Wahlburgers mushroom burger was better). She ordered fries though. They were crisp and golden brown, not much potato though. The best part of the meal was the dill pickle spear! It was juicy, crisp and packed a punch! Not all pickles do that (Jimmy John's comes close) and I'd consider this one of my favorites. The menu had Lake Superior fun facts so that was interesting to read while we were waiting for our food to come. We were two of the younger people here. It made me wonder who everyone was. Were they locals or retired folks weekday vacationing like us? Lots of white hair beards."
