"I discovered this restaurant through a Groupon deal and I was pleased with my visit. The restaurant is small, with only 5-6 tables, but it had a cozy atmosphere and great service. It was a special experience to dine at a restaurant from X-Land with their local music playing, it felt like I was in the Dominican Republic. My mother and I ordered sandwiches with fries and drinks as part of the deal, but we quickly realized they offer much more than just sandwiches - their authentic Dominican cuisine is delicious. I look forward to trying more dishes at this restaurant in the future, it was a fantastic dining experience with friendly staff."

The restaurant has a cozy, homey atmosphere with delicious home-cooked meals. The seating area is small, with only 3 or 4 tables. I would rate the food a 4 out of 5.

The sancocho was delicious. The oxtail with congri were very good as well. The meat wasn't as tender as I thought it should be, but the taste was very good. I'll definitely be back again to try some more food. Yummy!

I loved the food at Punta Cana! Had the amazing chicken jibarito sandwich with a side of yuca fries plus rice and peas. Literally had the perfectly cooked juicy chicken with mayo dribbling down my hand as I ate this massive sandwich! Perfection! Loved the down home vibe and counter service here too! Certainly one of my favorite sandwiches in Chicago! View menu

I love it! Michelle is such a nice and wonderful person. She quickly served our food - a steak sandwich for me, gyros and fries for my wife, and a Jarritos soda. The restaurant is simple, but everything on the menu is made from scratch. The smell of the freshly cooked food was enticing. It reminded me of a place Anthony Bourdain would have visited in the Dominican Republic. The portions are generous and you will never go hungry. Next time, I'll try the red beans and rice with pork.

Sometimes one makes a local discovery that wows in every way this was me at Punta Cana! I have literally never had a better jibarito. Steak was our flavor of choice, and I couldn't believe that the edges were not hard like I have experienced with previous jibarito sandwiches. The jibarito was just perfect. My husband and I were looking to eat lightly, so we split the sandwich lunch and had two empanadas. Everything was great. We were there on a Saturday afternoon, and they were not too busy. Keep in mind that seating is somewhat limited, but definitely don't let that hold you back from checking out the great eats at Punta Cana!

"Tempesta is arguably one of the best sandwich shops in the city. They make a lot of their meats in house and use high quality ingredients so you know you’re getting the good stuff. Not only can you get a great sandwich, you can purchase most of their meats to go as well as other small artisanal grocery items. I have tried almost every sandwich they have on the menu but my top two choices would be the #1 The Dante and the #2 Yo! Vincenzo! The Dante is their version of a classic Italian sandwich but a bit on the spicier side. The Yo Vincenzo is a chicken parm and I personally think it’s the best chicken parm sandwich in the city. The chicken is perfectly crispy, and they use just the right amount of sauce where it doesn’t get soggy. Both of these sandwiches come on their fresh baguette which helps set them apart from other sandwich spots in Chicago just because of how good it is. The B Franklin is also a great option, and if you’re starving get the Wagyu Pastrami but be warned it is a very heavy sandwich because of that Wagyu. The last pro tip I’ll add in here is order your sandwich ahead of time if you’re doing takeout. This is a very popular spot and is always busy during the lunch rush so if you wait to order until you arrive you may need to wait for 10-15 minutes. That should speak to how good this place is because it’s in such high demand, so if you’re in Chicago make sure you stop in!"
