"The worst fish and chips I've ever had. Literally just three frozen fish sticks and a small serving of fries. I should have taken a picture, it was so ridiculous. For $14 a plate!!! I can't believe the waitress was able to serve this to us with a straight face. We should have sent them back, but we aren't confrontational enough. They call themselves a seafood restaurant, but serve this tasteless frozen food? The fish and chips need to be removed from the menu. The crab cakes were also disappointing. They literally tasted like they'd been subjected to freezer burn before being reheated and served to us. I'm not a foodie, by far. I'm not that picky, either. I've had mediocre food and not thought twice about it. But I will never waste my money here again, and I do not recommend this place. The location is nice, the building and patio are nice, but the food is a joke. I'm so glad we didn't have an out of town guest with us I would have been so embarrassed to have taken them here."

They served a descent breakfast, but it was very crowded and extremely noisy.

It's an all time, classic San Diego eatery. A must experience boat-lifr breakfast experience.

Always delivers a great experience and great food. They have really good **** marys and Irish coffees too. View menu

The food is fantastic, as always! Unfortunately, they will be closing next Wednesday. I'll really miss them!

All seafood was tasteless and the best part of the meal was the bread and salads. Also the calm chowder was just potatoe soup.

Dining on the patio is delightful; the view is amazing, and the menu offers a great variety of options. The prices are reasonable as well. View menu

One of our favourite places to eat in San Diego. We love to go at night and sit outside near the water, the setting is lovely. I always have the mahi mahi, which is excellent, and their mashed potatoes are fantastic. We've always had great service, the waiters are always very pleasant.

We always make it a point to visit Red Sail when we're in San Diego (we're from Albuquerque). The food is average, but it's a solid spot. The bar features excellent cocktails—definitely try a Manhattan or an Old Fashioned. The staff is friendly and attentive, and the dinner specials are fantastic at bargain prices. It's also a great place for people-watching, and the patio dining is wonderful (just remember to bring a sweater!). Given the price and atmosphere, we’ll definitely be back.

"I adore this restaurant. Golden Hill is filled with many many quality eateries, and Counterpoint anchors the neighborhood with it's fun atmosphere and dedication to quality. They recently renovated and the new space is open, airy and provides a variety of seating options: bar seating, restaurant seating, and upper balcony (I use this as a quiet place to WFH during the week), and an outdoor patio. I'm partial to the biscuit and gravy for breakfast, but the brined chicken and waffles or breakfast hash always makes me smile and sends me unto the world with a better outlook on life and a doggie bag. When it's hot, delicious crunchy salads are on the lunch menu and the craft beers and unique slushy flavors change. Counterpoint takes the quality of food and libations seriously. The craft cocktails rotate as the bartenders are encouraged to explore and grow. The owner and team are always warm, welcoming and make sure you have a good experience. Did I mention they are DOG friendly? Definitely worth the trip up the hill from downtown if you're looking to wind down after an event or precharge and eat before a baseball game. I love to bring my friends for a snack (try the olive selection) and chat on a twilight night. Space heaters outside if you get cold. Fans inside if you get warm. Honestly if you live in or are visiting the 92102 area code you should go to Counterpoint: good food, really good cocktails, and great company. It is clear that this establishment cares about quality, cares about your comfort and loves if you have a good time."
