"What a fantastic spot! Not only is everything gluten-free, but they also cater to many common allergens and are extremely vegan-friendly. The focus on health is evident in their unique grain mixes and a variety of creative drinks. However, it doesn't feel like a typical health food bar; instead, it exudes a warm, intimate, and somewhat quirky café atmosphere. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, eagerly addressing all my questions. You order at the counter, and they bring the food to your table. While the service isn't slow, they certainly take their time preparing everything, so this isn't the place for a quick bite. Drinks come out much quicker, and if you order a baked good, they’ll get it for you right on site. I tried the Red Pepper Reuben with coleslaw, a carrot cupcake, and a Chaga latte. I opted for the vegan version of the Reuben; initially, I feared the vegan cheese might be generic, but to my delight, they offered various flavors including cheddar, Swiss, and provolone, allowing for a solid substitute for the traditional cheese. The sandwich itself was delicious! It was a bit messy due to the juicy roasted peppers and sauerkraut, which I think was amplified by the vegan cheese not holding everything together like regular cheese would, but the flavor made it worthwhile. The gluten-free bread was good, though it wasn't as delicate as traditional bread, yet it had a lovely, wholesome taste. The coleslaw was intriguing, possibly made with tahini in the dressing, and I really enjoyed it. The carrot cupcake was delightful, with the coconut frosting being especially tasty. Finally, my latte made with hemp milk was a pleasant change; I’m not sure how much of the subtle nutty flavor came from the Chaga versus the hemp, but it was a nice departure from my usual hot drinks. The only downside I noticed is that they don’t offer any reusable cups for those dining in—everything else was served on ceramic plates, so it was a bit disappointing to receive my drink in a disposable cup. Overall, this was a wonderful experience, and although I might not have the chance to stop in Mt. Vernon again soon, I will definitely make a point to visit this place when I can!"

I was in need of a quick lunch while passing through Mt. Vernon, and this restaurant was recommended to me. It turned out to be an excellent choice. Although I'm neither vegetarian nor vegan, I really enjoyed my sandwich and would love to return next time I'm in town.

Shambala bakery is one of the best places I've been to in awhile!! Everything they make is from scratch, they have so many vegan options and they serve breakfast till 4!! Their rosemary sourdough with avocado, rainbow omelet and side salad was to die for!! My girlfriend got the Gyro which was so good too.

$15- loaf of GF bread from a safe CD/100% GF dedicated facility. That?s why I try and stop there and grab a loaf. It tastes best after being toasted. They?re doing great things at this bakery. I arrived in the afternoon, unfortunately it was mostly empty(their case of sweet treats available. I recommend trying it out, but go early and call ahead of time to see what they have.

$15 for gluten-free bread from a completely gluten-free establishment with dedicated decor. That's why I'm eager to dine there and grab a loaf. It tastes best when toasted. They really excel in this bakery. I visited in the afternoon, but unfortunately, it was mostly empty (although there were some sweet treats available). I recommend giving it a try, but I suggest going early and calling ahead to see what they have on offer. View menu

This place has very high quality food and coffee for a reasonable price, especially considering its mostly sourced from their own local farm. The gluten free vegan bread products are some of the best I've ever had. Evrrything here is thoughtfully made, tastes good, and is a bit unique. The atmosphere is a mix of cute antique vibes with some bakery chaos that lets you know thisplace does things in-house. Glad they are here in Mount Vernon.

I am dairy-free so I love that there is a vegan restaurant in Mount Vernon! They have kombucha on tap... The waitress was sweet and let me sample a few, and I got the blood orange. I also ordered the Real Cod Fish 'n Chips, but by mistake of the waitress was served the Wish 'N Chips (which is cauliflower breaded in panko). They made good on their error and I got to try both... Thanks Shambala! To my surprise, I liked the Wish (cauliflower) better! ? The coleslaw fry sauce served with this was also delicious. Got a Lemon Cupcake with Lemon Frosting to-go... Happy tummy. Greasy meal, but hey what did I expect ordering fish and chips? Altogether good experience

Yum! I don't need to care about whether their menu is gluten free, I DO care whether their food tastes good and it does!! We ordered the french toast and the (vegetarian) biscuits and gravy. The french toast was superb, with a light crust of visible eggon the bread, and a perfectly sweet (but not overly sweet) topping of blackberry sauce and honey. As for the biscuits and gravy, the biscuits weren't as fluffy as I would ideally prefer but I'll give them a pass since they tasted fine *and* because thegravy was vegetarian and very flavorful. We also bought two cookies to go that are quite good I really like their thincookies. We live half an hour away but the eye surgery center I occasionally v... View menu

My wife and I have tried this place three times over the past year. We really wanted to like this place but we won't be going back, at least not to eat for breakfast. The positives are that the food is good. We had the Sunshiner sandwich and we got some pastry things the other times. Good. The negative has always been the service. Once the breakfast the two sandwiches) took over a half hour to get. We were the only people in the place. This morning we ordered coffee and were eating breakfast there. The coffee we ordered drip) was served in paper cups for dine in. I asked for a refill and it never came. The servers have never been very friendly and seem bothered that anyone is there. I think...

Really cool place! They are not only gluten free but also free of many common allergens AND extremely vegan friendly. There 's a health conscious theme here with the grain blend they use and also a whole line of adaptogen drinks. But the vibe is not healthfood bar , it has a very warm and intimate, and a little quirky, cafe feel. The staff was really welcoming and helpful with allthe questions I had. Order at the counter, and they bring the food to you if you 're eating in. Not inexcusably slow, but theyseem to take their time with the food, so this is not the place to order a meal if you 're in a rush. The drinks come out muchfaster and if you order a baked good they 'll grab it for you on...

"To say I was highly disappointed with my experience here would be an understatement. I was with my family of 5 which included three young children and we did not receive communication from a staff member upon sitting down for 15 minutes and that was only because I got up to seek a staff member. At this point we ordered our appetizer, drinks and meals. Sadly, we did not receive our drink orders or silverware for another 10 minutes. Our food arrived in shifts and was not very good. We were unable to get refills on our drinks until we sought out staff. Plates were never removed from our table and our table quickly became cluttered. Finally, we couldn't find a staff member to get a check. I had to get up, find a staff member and ask for a check. As someone who worked in the service industry throughout high school and college I understand the challenges that comes with working in this field. I have great admiration and respect for individuals who work in this field and typically understand that service can be slow based on factors out of the hands of employees, this however, was not the case . The staff here had horrific attitudes and the poor service was due to negligence and a lack of effort. I have been eating at diners for almost 40 years and have never had service this poor. I will tell anyone who will listen to avoid this establishment. Lastly, for me to take the time to write this review should let you know how disgusted I am about how my family and I were treated."
