"After placing my order, I went to the soda fountain to get a drink, and there were two older ladies chatting when the manager came out from the kitchen. I didn’t catch his name, but he asked the ladies how they were doing. They mentioned that the floors were very sticky, which was absolutely true, as my shoes were making sticky noises too. The manager insisted that it must be a problem with their shoes and claimed he had just mopped with a new mop head ten minutes ago, repeatedly insisting that the floors weren’t sticky, but rather it was the customers' shoes. As I walked by, he pointed at my boyfriend and my shoes, saying, “Theirs aren’t sticky,” even though they definitely were. I even took pictures of the floors, and they were yellow with visible marks, dirt, and grease. It’s clear they haven’t really cleaned this place properly since the start of COVID. With some good scrubbing and deep cleaning, it could be a nice place to eat again. If the manager had been more respectful, the atmosphere might have felt better too. I just miss the old dine-in experience—Steak 'n Shake isn't the same anymore."

It would be nice if they could fill the milkshakes up to the top. Instead it was half filled then topped with whip cream. Steak ‘n skimp on the shake.

I had never visited one of these places before, but I decided to give it a shot. I was pleasantly surprised by the food; it was actually quite good! The meat was flavorful, and I always enjoy trying a grilled cheese-style burger. If you come across one during your travels, it's definitely worth trying!

Hey I get it no people to hire just use the kiosk. Food was very good and as ordered. Disappointed in the small milkshake for over $4.00. Food was ready pretty fast. Had to wait on the milkshake . Very sorry what this world is coming to in the fast food industry. People need to get up and go to work. We need better wages. I always leave a good tip.

It seems that they stop serving milkshakes several hours before closing time. There's a chain blocking the drive-thru, so once they inform you that milkshakes are unavailable, you're stuck waiting until you can get past it. I've been sitting here for 20 minutes trying to leave, but the drive-thru is moving so slowly that I’ll likely be here for another 20 minutes. View menu

The new kiosk and pickup food setup were unexpected as were used to ordering from a server, however was not disappointed. Kiosks worked well, even though you can't customize your shake order. Restaurant and restrooms were clean. Food was good, no different than previous visits. Nice to have a restaurant on this side of town that wasn't horrible food or service, so we will be back.

The customer service is generally okay, but the staff tend to use inappropriate language. Additionally, the customers who come in wearing running gear are treated poorly. It seems like they might be under some stress. Today, they don't have shakes available, even though the restaurant's name includes "shakes." It's surprising how this can happen at a place known for offering shakes!

I came at 6:30 on a Monday night. I have ordered a new kiosk, found a place and then a guess to grab my own cup and drink. sitting for 20 minutes and not a worker has even confirmed us. by the way? a rod (on a break, I guess) said, excuse me and before me to take a drink for himself, then he went into the back room. a little rude to skip their customers. at 7ish I heard my name on the loudspeaker and went to pick up my order. I tried to say they think, but they could not understand the concept of appreciation. I'll say that eating is almost as good as before. my daughter and both had the double and it was juicy and delicious. the pommes were also crispy. just be kind. View menu

This was the worst experience I've ever had a steak n shake. The place was dirty. Every single table needed to be wiped down and the floors were sticky. They got my order wrong and when we went to go talk to someone, there is no one to be found. The bathroom is gross as well. Their standards have went way down it seems since they don't have servers anymore. The food was awful as well. I didn't even finish because it just wasn't good. Fries were cold, cheese sauce was congealed, my son's garlic burger was one of the most disgusting things I've ever tried. Their milk shakes were the only good thing that we got. Maybe they should change to just a drive thru ice cream place.

A far cry from the Steak and Shake of the past. The burgers? Still very very good! In fact, all the items are just as tasty as they always have been. What is lacking is their difference between a Culver's or Five Guys. They are all good, and when more competition exists, you can't cut back on your dine-in experience, and that is exactly what they did. No more order-taker, instead you get to peck your order in at the kiosk. The tables are worn down raw and scratched up as well as the chairs. The overall cleanliness is still very good. No condiments available, instead you have to ask for it. It is sad to see the once excellent dine-in service drop below what you have at a McDonald's.

"This was a recommended restaurant by Lakeland locals, so we decided to try it out. The interior gave an ambiance of a candlelit dinner and the menu was very appealing to all palettes. We ordered the Jambalaya, Blackened Shrimp and Grouper w/ French Fires and Coleslaw, Chicken Jolie Blonde w/ Smashed Potatoes, She Crab Soup, Cresent City Cobb, Crispy Calamari, and the Chocolate Ganache Cake. Portion sizes we well worth the price and enough to share among two people per plate. The food was well seasoned and very flavorful; we had a great experience and would definitely recommend that you visit when in the Lakeland area! Jambalaya: The Jambalaya was very flavorful with the right balance of salty, spicy, and rich! The portion was more than plentiful and almost takes you back to New Orleans. Blackened Shrimp and Grouper w/ French Fries and Coleslaw: This dish is absolutely delicious and a seafood-lover's dream (although we did expect there to be more shrimp for the price). Chicken Jolie Blonde w/ Smashed Potatos: The chicken was perfectly cooked and not dry as restaurants generally make it! The sauce was rich and added a perfect balance to the dish! She Crab Soup: Perfect mixture of sweet and spicy! There was plenty of crab chunks in the soup and the seafood flavors were punchy and fresh; definitely a recommended place to enjoy this Charleston staple! Cresent Cobb Salad: The salad came in a huge portion that we shared among all four members in our party. The vegetables tasted fresh and each element was perfectly made for a delicious salad! Crispy Calamari: The flavor was good and the calamari was crispy; the sauce that came with was delicious as well! Chocolate Ganache Cake: The cake was most, but a little too sweet and not as rich as expected. The vanilla sauce that came with it was to die for, though!"
