"The Amigo Spot is located in the pristine mid-century King 's Inn in Mission Valley. The building has not been renovated or refreshed , so it is as if you are back in 1958, which is wonderful. No fake vintage here. I like the banquettes for two in the bar when you enter the dining room at The Amigo Spot. The house Margarita is good and only $8.00. The menu is still on a COVID-19 streamline version, so there is a limited selection. We hear they are working on a new menu , but when will it be revealed? For now, the Pollo en crema is acceptable, and the corn tortillas offered with the meal are better than expected. Service by the bartender, Amado [who will take care of you if you sit in the bar area] is exceptionally kind, and he is fun to speak with. He also makes a good after dinner Café Mexicano, with Tequila and Kahlua, topped with whipped cream and served in a clear glass mug with a handle. After dinner, be sure to take a stroll through the King 's Inn gardens to the kidney shaped pool surrounded by palms. It is located in a courtyard in the center of the hotel. It has a perfectly mid-century vibe. When I visited this evening, there was a lone swimmer rippling through the waters and the sky was a rosy pink from the sunset. It was absolutely gorgeous!"

The food was delicious and felt homemade. Better than some meals I've had in Old Town down the street.

fun on the inside, somehow I wish we had eaten there instead of picking up the take-out. the inner looked like one of these funny colorful Mexican restaurants in films! eating was good, had more taste than look.

Oh my goodness that was good! I had the steak asada plate. It came with three tortillas that tasted homemade. Deeeelicious! I ordered it through the Yelp page, it routed me to grub hub, I ordered and paid and it was ready in 15 minutes. Excellent!

While staying at the King's Inn, we had dessert in our room ordered from the Amigo Spot. Deep Fried ice cream one night and dessert chimichangas the next. Looking at the dinner menu, I was intrigued and would have eaten there if we hadn't had other plans. View menu

Come on a Tuesday! The tortas are amazing! I definitely recommend the Pollo asado torta. Wish I had these back home. Soooooo good. Also, my man Armado works his butt off at the bar. Wish I had pics of the tortas I ate, but they were too good to set down for that long.

Tonight we dined in at this location. As soon as you are seated, you are greeted with an offer to get chips and salsa for 2.95, which is weird that this isn’t offered free and off set by menu prices. Staff was very friendly. When the food arrived the chicken tacos were okay, but the beans rice were lacking in flavor. These were definitely not Mexican style beans and rice. Flautas were decent and the watermelon margarita 14 was good.

For what it is, The Amigo Spot gets 5 stars. What is The Amigo Spot? It is an old-school Mexican restaurant located in the super cool, mid-century King's Inn hotel in Hotel Circle. You turn left inside the neat old hotel lobby and you enter The Amigo Spot. Decor is fun! It's like stepping back in time. Ask for a booth. They are a little more dimly lit, which makes the experience even better. My Enchiladas Suizas was incredible. They make the best green sauce and the cheese they use is perfect. If I were going to get another margarita here, I'd ask that it be made with fresh lime instead of a mix. But everything else we had was in-sane. The chips and salsa are addictive as hell. We came all the way from South Dakota and wanted to taste real ! MEXICAN food with authentic and original flavors. We tried the Amigo Spot since it was very close to our hotel and WOW I am so glad we did! First of all, the restaurant has a cute burro decor outside for kids to take photos together with, that is so thoughtful of the management. Interior of the restaurant is so very clean, decorated with beautiful Mexican accents. Quite, calm, perfect for families and lunch dinner meetings. Servers are outstanding people, always smiley, friendly, and knowladgeable about their menu. Fast service, fresh and sooo delicious food! I had tasted this amazing cuisine in so many other places, and I can...
