"I had lunch here a few years back when it was a walk in cafe with my 6 year old daughter. The owner, a bald, grumpy, Romulan face from Star Trek looking muchacho with a bad attitude really laid into my little girl for spilling her soda and forced her to clean it up yelling something like; do you know how much those floors cost !!?? she started to cry but told me later that the man 's face was weird and scary and that 's what made her cry. I wanted to kick his a right there but did not want to set a bad example to my little girl or get arrested for assault! thankfully they went out of business at that corner spot i 'm sure the reason being the owner...we 'll years later I went to a party and lo and behold, catering by Bittersweet. the sandwich i ate was kind 'a stale, tasted like a Safeway sandwich...anyway next day BAM ! serious diarrhea ! it was so darn bad I had to go to an urgent care and get some antibiotic 's...they said I was lucky to be alive after all that bacteria in my belly...they probably recycle the food the nurse told me. my primo wrote a google review just recently after I did because he loves my little girl so much and was very angry about it after we told him what had happened those years past. in Response to the owner , I am having a hard time understanding , you say you are the owner , your face is the weird faced man who yelled at my girl but the name is not the same as him, his name says Jody and you are Jeffrey .A therefore this does not add up. Also it is important to let people know of such things that is why we have Yelp and Google reviews in the first place."

We had an amazing experience with Bittersweet Catering for our wedding! We appreciated the customizable menu they offered for our garden party. The variety of options allowed us to select the dishes we truly enjoy. Our favorites were the baked brie and buffalo chicken dip.

My COUSIN'S little girl was yelled at by the owner for spliing a drink on the floor. He also got really sick after eating, they recycle old food he thinks because food was very stale and thats what the doctors told him was wrong.i write this review after he did to let other know.

Bittersweet did an outstanding job catering for a large party at our home. Jeffrey was extremely knowledgeable and offered great advice on different options. All the staff we encountered were prompt and friendly. The food was delicious—beautifully presented and featuring wonderful flavor combinations. I highly recommend them! View menu

Bittersweet catered my anniversary party, and they made the entire process incredibly smooth for me. They accommodated all of my dietary needs and ensured the venue was set up beautifully. The service during the event was exceptional, the food was a hit, and our venue was very pleased with the cleanup. Thank you so much, Bittersweet!

I ordered the strawberry shortcake dessert cups for my daughter's graduation party in June 2022, and they were absolutely stunning, delicious, and a huge hit! My only issue with Bittersweet was finding their location in Alexandria, as it's tucked away in an alley, and I kept missing it while driving. I suggest parking in the nearby garage and walking up to the building to pick up your food, unless you opt for delivery.

Wow!! They catered an affair I just attended and I could not be MORE impressed!! Wonderful delicious variety of food and drink, elegantly preented. The lady and the gentleman from Bittersweet (sorry I don't know your names) were pleasant and perfect especially in this waning (I hope) time of Covid masked, at the ready to help out. I never heard about Bittersweet before but now that I know, I will be more than happy to patronize their establishment View menu

Where do we begin?! Our experience with Bittersweet Catering for our wedding was simply fantastic. We loved that their menu offered endless options, allowing us to customize it to match our tastes and vision for our brunch-themed wedding. Jeffrey Allen was incredible—truly our fairy godfather—crafting an exquisite menu and bringing it to life! Our guests are still talking about how delicious the food was, as well as praising the rehearsal dinner, which was also catered by Bittersweet. The service was outstanding, the food quality was excellent, and the staff was friendly and wonderful. We will definitely choose them to cater all our future events!

Bittersweet Catering has officially become my top choice for all my catering needs. I had to place a last-minute lunch order for around 40 guests the day before Thanksgiving. Given the timing, many restaurants I reached out to were either closed or didn't answer the phone. Thankfully, when I got in touch with Bittersweet Catering, Mr. Jeffery made the entire process a breeze. We created a menu that received nothing but positive feedback from all the guests. If you're in search of high-quality food and exceptional customer service, do yourself a favor and try Bittersweet Catering. You won't be disappointed! I want to extend my gratitude once again to Mr. Jeffery for all of his assistance. I'm...

"This place really helped me adjust. I later learned that people gravitate towards certain bars, and I found my favorites, especially those with live music like Birchmere, Black Cat, 9:30 Club, Lincoln, Capital One Arena, and even the now-closed O'Shaughnessy's and Rock & Roll Hotel. One of my most memorable experiences was running into Rory Sheridan on one of my first visits. He was launching his DC music campaign back then and was part of Loud Boyz. We chatted a few times, and I even caught up with some old classmates. Another highlight was when I heard about a “reunion” night before Thanksgiving, and I decided to crash it. There were moments where people could be unkind or I felt out of place, but I was given some guidance on where I would fit in better, without the unnecessary drama. Being in Old Town, I was familiar with nearby schools like West Potomac, Mount Vernon, and Bishop Ireton. During my visits, I would often take an Alexandria cab or use Metro Access, being discreet about my disability since I felt embarrassed at times. Being a regular meant navigating the tourist scene, and there were people who seemed territorial about the place, but I ended up doing quite well when I sold my house. Good times continued with events like watching RG3 play for the Redskins or meetups organized by JT. I enjoyed New Year’s celebrations and weekend outings. I also frequented other establishments like Flying Fish before it closed, and O'Shaughnessy's before I decided to stop drinking. This is a sports bar located near a bicycle shop, close to the Ben & Jerry's I used to work at, along with many other walkable bars for bar hopping, like Union Street Pub and Fish Market. It can be a great place to have fun, but with the good comes some downsides. Overall, I felt well-hosted and respected here, despite some things I was not initially aware of or didn’t want to uncover."
