"Our dinner experience was quite disappointing. The restaurant had run out of the first three wines I selected, and two of the entrees on the menu were unavailable. Out of a dozen oysters, one was spoiled and inedible. Although our waiter offered to give us a discount on that dish, he ultimately forgot about it. My snapper special lacked flavor, and while the beef bourguignon was acceptable, it didn't stand out as anything special. The standout dish of the evening was probably the escargots, which were quite good."

Lovely restaurant with a European feel. My wife and I went for a special date night and were not disappointed.

I can't tell you how much we enjoy Max Julie's. The food is always great and not overpriced. The staff is always so friendly. We plan to make this our go to restaurant. View menu

The woman ordered the artichoke, but it still had the manufacturer's sticker on it. We were the only customers at that moment, and it was just an ordinary dinner for her.

Rack of lamb was a bit of a disappointment. Very, very fatty, almost no meat. (I realize there is very little but this was ridiculous.. Fois gras was fair, my husband's chocolate mousse was okay but nothing to write home about. Overall, average. Service was great though.

The waiter was really pleasant but messed up one diner's order. Then she couldn't split the check. So we all paid in cash and when I asked for change for a $20, she couldn't do this without help of a manager. Then I wanted to get a gift certificate and she didn't know how to do that. She then came back and said they were out of them and suggested I come back later in the week. Good food, good restaurant but well meaning bumbling staff didn't help.

I've visited Max and Julie several times before, but this last experience was disappointing. The menu was quite limited and lacked authentic French dishes. My wife ordered the trout, which honestly looked like it could have come from a cafeteria. My steak au poivre was decent, but not exceptional. The atmosphere was still nice, but overall it didn't feel like a special experience. I think they need to revamp their menu to include items that bring more excitement.

"Food good. Location good. Service good. BUT, the hidden charges REALLY ruined an otherwise nice experience. Example: HH menu lists Martinis as a $3 upcharge to the $7 base charge. Fair enough. Bombay is a listed alcohol; requested. When the bill was returned I was charged for a Bombay Sapphire which is not on the HH list. Charge? $11 $3. I asked for Bombay, not Bombay Sapphire. Waiter: Oh, let me look into that. AND, by the way Blue Cheese olives? Extra $1. REALLY? I 've NEVER paid extra for BC olives ANYWHERE. AND the confusing menus that a dish as including an extra sauce, [and I don 't recall the exact language but it made it seem that an additional items could be selected as well. Oops, there goes an extra $10.95. AND, the waiter recommending a twice-baked potato. Bah, boom, another $5.95. [which in fairness is disclosed on the menu in a different location, but waiter made it sound as if it was a no-charge option on the surf and turf. AND the split plate charge which I don 't think was disclosed on the menu. Ding, ding, extra $3.00. Was this a waiter, who was overly up-selling or restaurant deception? Don 't know. As I said, the food WAS good. AND, the ambience [at least in the bar area, stay away of the hotel-ballroom-like main dining area was nice. Just beware the nickel and dime charges that the waiter won 't be disclosing to you."
