"Haven't been to Spago since their facelift and I'm so happy some things never change. Spago is still the overall number one restaurant in all of Los Angeles. First, the ambiance: The new look is updated but not overdone and the feeling in the dining room and the garden is still very much warm, cozy and elegant. The Food: Pure perfection from start to finish!! We opted to go with the tasting menu $240 per person) along with some choice wines throughout the meal a full wine pairing is also available). Every single item in the tasting menu ranged from very good to amazing. The fact that this kitchen crew can execute a regular a-la-carte menu, along with a separate tasting menu to such perfection of timing and most importantly look and flavor is quite impressive. "For our 30th anniversary, it was a blessing to have come across a staff that really took the time to cater to me and my wife. Our reservation was a last minute decision, but by the way we were treated, you would have thought it was planned. We normally travel to the top Michelin Star restaurant in the world (just returned earlier this month from the no.1 rated in Spain, Malaga, and Portugal for a birthday celebration), but this year we decided to travel to CA, and stopped in at Ocean Prime while touring Beverly Hills. This turned out to be an excellent decision, as Andre, our Captain, was attentive, kind, caring and one who understood and embodied the mission and culture of the establishment. Andre and his little brother “Raul” (a running joke) were exceptional and made it special. Not to leave out the other staff, to include the hostesses who offered to take our photos upon arrival, and the valet attendant who was pleasant in just answering our questions, who also made it a memorable experience. Again, we are used to generosities such as these because we travel the world to eat at fine dining establishments; however, it was equivalent to our experiences at those establishments, and so it was refreshing to find it without it being planned. "It is the first Nobu restaurant set up by their chef in Los Angeles. We booked seats one month in advance to have this refined dining experience on Friday night. The valet outside is $10, and there are also abundant street parking choices. The service was extraordinary, they take precautions for the pandemic in every detail and gave us not only a sense of comfort but also security. They gave very patient advice on the dishes' choice. They know that it was our first time here, so they let us take orders one by one, to see if we like what they serve. The “premium omakase” on the menu is $200 per person and it was perfect for a date. While we this time chose to order by plates. We highly recommend their bluefin tuna, it was very fresh and flavorful! Something we recommend most is the BREAD PUDDING, it was made of hot croissant bread pudding in cast iron with strawberries and milk gelato. We initially were not decided to try the dessert after the sushis, while we were fortunate that we did! And it didn’t let us down, with the ice cream on the top and hot croissant on the bottom, every bite was joyful."

"Shocking!!! We had a hair baked into the cookie that was part of the cheesecake dessert. The hair was actually hanging out of the baked cookie. The waiter did look at it and whisk it away with apologies. He also returned later to let us know that the kitchen staff were reminded to wear their hairnets but no manager came to our table and our dessert wasn’t even removed from the bill."
