"We stopped here for a quick dinner with the kiddos and was pleasantly surprised by the value and quality of the food we got. Our waitress was Kristine and she was nice and quick. We were seated right away and the restaurant is kid friendly with a doodle sheet and kids menu. We were served with bread and soft butter for the table shortly after seating. The kids menu came with a drink and ice cream and prices ranged between $4-8. We ordered Mac n cheese and speghetti and meatballs for the kids. The apple juice that came with the meal was a nice size cup, not those small kids cups. The dishes were also big enough to have leftovers. The Mac n cheese is ziti with a white cream sauce, not the Craft box Mac n cheese. My kid liked it. As for the speghetti and meatballs, the meatballs were the big size meatballs, so it was plenty for my daughter. For entrees, we ordered White clam sauce with fettuccine and calamari with spicy marinara sauce. They came with soup or salad. The food was decent, but nothing to rave about... 3 stars for the food, but overall experience and value earned this place another star. Nice place for a family meal (with plenty of leftovers) that won't break your bank!"

I will not be returning to CJ's this time. I know that not everything can be perfect all the time, but this last visit was disappointing.

What a disappointing experience! Last night I went out to eat at the Rheinbeck Arts Center and ordered the Portobello pelt with blue cheese crumb.

My husband and I stopped at CJ's. To have some dinner, I ordered the baked ziti. And he had lasagna, we also had onion soup, the soup was very weak, and the ziti for me was that it was over cooked. The sauce was great the next time I go there I think I'll just get a Pizza.

Rhinebeck staple. I grew up with this pizza and 20 years later it is still my favorite. Great family owned business. The owner started CJ's out of a school bus in the 70s. Really great place for a beer and wings or to bring the family for dinner. Outdoor seating in the warm months.

I honestly don't understand the low reviews here. I've been coming to Cj's since I was a kid myself and now I enjoy taking my own kids here. You don't get glitz, glam or fancy foods. What you do get is great food at a reasonable price in a non stuff atmosphere, cold beer and we've always had very personable servers! Go to foods here are pizza with (chicken, eggplant, RRP) calamari, wings, fried ravioli and bread sticks with cheese. View menu

My buddy and I walk weekly at a local state park then have lunch at CJ's. The food has really never been great but we enjoyed the waitresses who worked there. The last three times we were there the experience was horrible. The place is being run very poorly. The very last time we were there they had no waitress and the food was barely mediocre. Not recommended at all. We just went to Pete's Famous and had an outstanding lunch for comparable price.

We've been a few times now and we love it. Our food has always been great and the service is great as well. Keep in mind this is not a fast in and out place. I love it because when you order an appetizer you can enjoy it without having your meal brought out two minutes after the appetizer arrives. This reminds of going out to eat with my folks when I was younger. It's not a herd you in and herd you out kind of place. You can actually sit and enjoy your meal and the company your with. They have a great selection of food and every item we've ordered has been great. The one time there was a minor issue the manager came over right away and apologized. She then took the item off our bill which I...

"I visited this restaurant twice, once on a busy weekend night and once on a slower weekday night. I had not ordered from this restaurant since it moved from an earlier location just south of the village. I had not eaten at the new location right in the heart of the Village of Rhinebeck. This restaurant currently offers many items that are vegan or can be made vegan on request! As of now, problems exist with conflicts between the printed menus available in the restaurant, the menu on the website [hidden link] , and the online take out order site. The restaurant uses V for Vegan and AV for Can Be Adjusted to Vegan. The printed in restaurant menus appear inaccurate, with many fewer items listed as V or AV. I have asked members of the wait staff, and they assure me that all but two of the items in the Vegetable Dishes entree section of the printed menu are either V or AV. These include many interesting regional dishes. The vegan Tomato Rasam soup was spicy and delicious. One bit of bad news was that the restaurant was not serving quinoa—an alternative grain on the menu either night. I have abandoned rice as a food that is likely to contain environmental toxins. So, I ordered Indian whole wheat bread to eat with my main dish each time. On Night 1, the pan grilled Chapati was too stiff and thin. On Night 2, the tandoori baked Roti worked brilliantly in the role of a sauce absorber and texture and flavor complement—delicious. On the main dishes, both curries were strong in veggie content. The most veggie packed was my second night entree, Sabzi Bahaji. This Bengali dish included at least cauliflower, red onion, green peas, potatoes, carrots, and garbanzo beans. The restaurant was not able to honor my reservation the first evening, but I may have inadvertently reserved seating for two. I am not sure who was at fault. I was seated in a nice outdoor two person table after a bit of a wait. The restaurant was packed, and other diners were standing on the sidewalk waiting. My reservation on the weekday night worked perfectly. The main dishes were around 15 16, my whole wheat bread options cost 4, and the soup was 6. So, the price rating seems reasonable to me. As an Indian cuisine fan, I very much enjoyed the food. The wait service was great, though it was stretched on the busy weekend night. The setting and interior of the restaurant were nice. I hope to be back soon. Updated from previous review on 2021 06 22"

"I feel bad for not doing this review sooner, but luckily my wife got one in a few weeks ago. There is no way my review can do justice to Zach and the entire team at The Amsterdam (and I do mean the entire team). The overall atmosphere from the moment of walking through the front door is inviting, friendly, and somehow screams that you are about to experience something special. Indeed you are. From the moment of seating, the entire staff is welcoming, attentive, and, most importantly, happy. Everyone seems to be happy to be working there and that, in turn, makes you feel happy to be there. The open kitchen just adds to the inclusive feeling of the entire restaurant. We have taken advantage of that openness and have had wonderful conversations with Chef Zachary. Speaking of Chef Zachary, it really is impossible in a short review to describe how incredible the food is. In my most recent two visits I have had the pleasure of experiencing the short ribs and the Coq au Vin. You simply won 't find better plates than these anywhere. It 's almost shocking how good these dishes are. The desserts are equally amazing. I have noticed some reviews complain about the prices. Frankly, if you 're shocked by prices before walking in in the year 2024, that 's on you, as everything is easily found online (as evidenced by the shocked review you posted on Google). Also, the food and service is worth every cent. Well done by Chef Zachary and the entire team at The Amsterdam! Service: Dine in"
